Hi everyone,

My husband and I will be processing my AOS soon. I heard about this new TST requirement which took effect on May 1, 2008. I had my medical exam last May. USCIS website states that CDC allowed a 30 day grace period from the date it effected. With my own understanding, I therefore don't need to take TST because the date of my medical exam fall into the 30 grace period given. Please confirm if I understood it right.

Thanks,

Riza :)

That is how I understand it. Any medical done before June 1 does not need the skin test. But who knows if the person looking at your case will check the dates and understand it. LOL. Good luck to you.

This is a good question. Although you had your K-1 medical done in May, on what day did you have the I-693 form filled? Since the k-1 medical doesn't fulfill all the requirement of the I-693 (unless your country submits this form, mine didn't, it used another version), is the AOS medical considered a new medical? In other words, if you had the civil surgeon medical appointment done AFTER June 1, 08, do you have to follow the new requirements? Or do they consider the k-1 medical the official medical?

I assume tha thte k-1 medical is not sufficient, and the USCIS considers the AOS medical to be the determinant. If you had your AOS medical after June 1, i would get a TB test conducted.

I have a question, though. Does the test have to be administered by the CS, or could I attend a medical clinic/other doctor to be tested and bring those results to the CS? SOrt of like the k-1 medical and vaccinations??

Godo luck.

p.s. My fiancee just told me the TB test she had was 40 bucks. that's not bad.

I had my medical exam in my home country last May. USCIS website states that "any medical" that takes place before June 1, 2008 is covered on the grace period given by CDC. The envelope that I got from the US Embassy which I submitted to the Immigration in my POE contained all my medical records that was required. Since I already have my medical exam, I certainly believe that I no longer have to undergo another one when I apply for AOS, specially that it was done before this new requirement took effect.

My husband called a CS in our area yesterday. He asked if do we need to have the CS give me the additional vaccination. The person he talked with said that we can have any other clinic (public clinic might be) or doctor to administer it as long as it's the correct vaccination that's been required. I believe that we really don't need a CS to do the vaccination and TST (they charge highly compared to public clinics). However, we need the CS to transcribe our medical records on the AOS medical forms. We need to submit the new vaccination / TST records that has been administered, and the CS transcribes it.

If my presumptions are incorrect, I need someone to correct me.
