Hello, I am newand I am in need of desperate help. I've just arrived back from Vietnam for the second time and will begin the process of filing a I-129F form to bring my fiance to the states. I am planning to return to Vietnam again in June 08 to be married there. My parents will accompany me next time. Does anyone here know the actual cost to file the form? Also, any other tips would be great. I am reading all the faqs on this site and I have to say, it's been very helpful considering I am in no way whatsoever able to afford an immigration attorney.

Also a few questions: Should I fill out a fiance letter of intent and then mail it to her so she can sign it and mail it back to me so I can complete the package?

What's the difference between petitioner’s/beneficiary’s and applicant’s/beneficiary’s name? Im working on a fiance letter of intent and kinda confused where do I sign and her sign.

Are you sure the fiance(e) visa is the right visa? If you are legally married there, it is NOT...

YMMV

hello,

Regarding to your question about the cost of I-129f form, its cost $455 if am not mistaken.Yes,you need an individual letter of intent that you've met already in person and decided to marry within 90 days the days.,you have to provide an individual letter of intent with the signatures, and send it together with your I-129F form. The US citizen is the petitioner,i mean the petioner is the applicant...I hope this reply of mine will help you a bit..There are forums about it here in VJ,so you can ask about it the member here...goodluck

You can not file the I-129F for fiance if you plan on marrying her outside the US because you will be bringing her to the US as your wife. You must wait until after you marry and then file the I-130 and I-129F (if you choose) petitions. The I-130 petition is required for spouses. You can choose to send the I-130 first and wait for the receipt, make a copy of the receipt and send in witht the I-129F. Or you can send in both petitions together to the proper service center. Still, you can not file a petition for a fiance when you will be bringing her to the US as your wife. If you file the I-129F for a fiance and marry her before she comes to the US you may have a lot of problems with USCIS or your petition may be denied and you might have to file the petitions again the correct way. Good Luck!

As stated, if you are planning a legal marriage in Vietnam then the K1 visa is not for you. A K1 is a fiance visa and you must be married in the U.S. (within 90 days of her arrival).

As far as costs involved. The initial petition is $455. To file for AOS (including AP (travel) and EAD (work) after marriage is it another $1010. There are also medical/vaccination fees when your fiance has her medical in her home Country as well as the visa fee of $131(usd) to consider around interview time. On top of all that there are are travel charges, fees for any paperwork you must get or copies of (divorce decrees, birth certificates..etc) any translation fees and passport pictures..etc, etc. It all adds up.

The process at HCMC is not an easy one so you are looking at an uphill battle either way. Check out your portals link and the Vietnam Regional thread here on VJ for others who have or are dealing with this Consulate.

You are going to want to start here and decide which visa will be best for you.

Welcome to VJ, you have found the best resource on the web to help start you on your way. :)
