My fiance was arrested for not having registration papers for his motorcycle while driving it. He was only in jail for about an hour before they let him go when he paid the fine. Is this going to affect him with the visa approval? Also, would that be grounds to answer yes to being arrested on form ds 156?

He was arrested for not having registration papers while driving an automobile? I have never heard of that, but I am not doubting you by any means. Was he given a ticket prior to this? If this is the sole reason he was arrested, then I find it difficult to believe that he was arrested only for this, as I have been pulled over twice without having the registration papers in my car because I had just gotten a new car or forgot them at home or something, and was given a ticket once, but when I went to court and proved I had the registration papers and my car was registered to me the ticket was dropped.

Being arrested for this is something I am not familiar with, however I am not sure if you are the petitioner or beneficiary. If you are the petitioner and your fiance is a foreign citizen then not sure about the laws of another country.

haha, yeah well the dominican republic has a corrupted system. They can arrest you for anything they want. They try to arrest tourists for things they make up unless you pay them.

Probable he was arrested for not having a license for driving the motorcycle, here it is very common but people doesn´t pay attention to that then gets into trouble.

Consult a qualified immigration lawyer for this.

Doesn´t need a lawyer for that, tell to him to go to the Main Post Office at La Feria, there space in the first floor is divided between the post office and the place that provides the criminal record, tell to him ask for one if everything goes clean he won´t have a problem 330.00 dominican pesos are cheaper than to pay to a lawyer here.
