Hey folks.

I'm putting together a VJ Meetup for SO's who are African.

Please list the following so that I may have an idea of where to start:

-Current state of residence & city

-Where your SO is from

-Preferred cuisine

-Preferred time of year

You may list any other tips and idea's as they come.

Prefer that everyone list here instead of by PM. This is to let everyone see what everyone wants and I can plan it better.

11/06/2008 - Interview at Dakar Embassy

11/18/2008 - Notice (Show even more income and ORIGINAL docs now from 1st cosponsor

12/23/2008 - Received email for 3rd Interview scheduled for March 25th, 2009. Bring Pics

01/23/2009- In Gambia with hubby

04/09/2009- POE Atlanta (CR-1 Status until 2011)

04/13/2009- husband arrested for domestic violence (Aggravated Assault-Felony)

05/19/2009- Filed for divorce

06/02/2009- Letter sent to immigration detailing abuse & fraud

09/08/2009- Divorce Hearing

09/10/2009- Divorce Trial (Continued)

03/11/2010- Notice To Appear issued

03/22/2010- Divorced

05/18/2010- Deportation Master Hearing

05/18/2010- Deportation Ordered

06/17/2010- Appeal Time Over. ICE picked him up. In Jail

08/10/2010- Another Master Hearing Scheduled. Out of jail.

05/31/2012- Individual Hearing Scheduled

Ohhh fun!

I live in VT, prefer to travel in the summer, SO is from Guinea, and we'll eat pretty much anything.

It would be really fun if we could pair this meeting with a W. African music festival. Here's what I know about recurring festivals:

Burlington, VT - 1st weekend in November

Oakland, CA - end of May

Fresno, CA - 2nd week in July up in the mountains, camp style

Boulder, CO - August (I think)

I know there are also festivals in Atlanta and Chicago too but I'm not sure when. Of course I think our festival in VT is the best on but I'm biased. :blush:

If you read you will see that it is just not a good time for people right now. We were going to revisit the idea in the spring. ;)

Sorry about the bad link....will I ever get the hang of this stuff???

Anyway we are difinately interested in a meet up, it is just hard for everyone right now. The economy is frightening, the holidays are coming, that is why after we dicussed we decided to wait.

Thanks for the info on the festivals, I dont live very far from Boulder I am going to check it out.

Victor goes and picks up packet #3....May 20th,04

Sent request for earlier interview date via e-mail May 20th,04

May 27th, Lagos won't change date.

August 16th, 2004 fly to Nigeria for Victors interview

August 19th, 2004 Interview date, visa approved.

August 25th, 2004 Victor picks up passport with visa stamp.

August 26th, 2004 fly back to USA

September 18th, 2004 Victor arrives in USA, Lord willing.

October 9th, 2004, we become husband and wife

October 25th, 2004 I learn that I'm pregnant.

Feburary 25th, 2005 AOS Appointment

( went to appt. and requested a reschedule)

June 7th, 05 gave birth to a boy child.

July 5th, 05 Victor packs he suitcase and leaves for good.

July 2005 2nd AOS appointment

( went and requested a reschedule )

August 2005- I file for divorce. and withdraw immigration paperwork.

I don't know, but I'd liked the thought of people getting together and meeting face to face. I've been to one meet up so far and enjoyed it, soooooo I was hoping that some were still planing one for the Sub Saharan group.
