Hello everybody! :) I just wanted to know something about form DS 156... I know the embassy will mail or email to me packet three and since in Italy we can download it from the embassy web site I was already looking at it...I was wonder if I have to use the Form DS-156 that cames from the package they give us or do we have to download it from the usembassy.gov site? because I noticed that the one from usembassy.gov site will give u a BARCODE at the end that don't come with the one included in packet 3....so whats the deal about this?

Thank you!!!

what barcode do you mean in packet three? every embassy is different so it is difficult for me to tell what you mean. i had a barcode on the letter from the nvc, is that what you are referring to?

Nononono..let explain myself better =)...ok, when u fill up DS-156 online https://evisaforms.state.gov/ds156.asp, at the end u would press the botton submit and that will direct u to a page with a barcode that i guess will be used by the consulate....so now i was wonder since form DS156 also comes included with package 3, do i have to use that one included with package 3 (but without bar code cuz it can't be generated since its alrady a piece of paper) or do i need to go online and use the one at https://evisaforms.state.gov/ds156.asp so I can generate the final bar code? Mmm...I know its hard to understand because of my english and everything but i hope its a little more clear this time

your english is fine, don't worry, i was just a little confused by what you meant. ;)

the barcode is generated when you complete the form online, as you know. i just returned my packet 3 to london and there were no forms in the packet (i'm not sure if it's the same for italy), all they sent me were instructions on where to find them online. i don't think you should worry about what they mail you, just complete the forms from the website and use the barcode generated. i think it is upon completion of the form that it tells you that the barcode helps them to process the form, my guess is that your answers on the form are compiled into the barcode. i hope this helps. :)
