The KKK attracts losers like urban gangs do. They aren't government sanctioned so there's no legal legitmacy but freedom of assembly is a Constitutional right and they can only be prosecuted for playing a part in illegal acts. I'm not for illegal immigration, but I am absolutely against anyone being judged because of random circumstances of birth. To me, the line in bold

nearly suggests that it may have been OK if he was an "illegal".
