I know a few of you gave good answers the other day, but now I am totally confused, and I am sure I'm not the ONLY one, so maybe your anwser will benefit more than just my concerns

Here is my concerns about how to read Igors list

If you look at LAST 20 people that recieved Approvals through VSC on Igors list, you will notice that usually EVERY day, it only shows 1-3 entries being approved

So, if you look below that list at list of peoplenSTILL WAITING for K-1 Approvals from VSC, there are 169 names waiting UP until the daye I filed on 8-05-2008

This week, i went from number 165, to 162, 158, and now TODAY, 118, but yet ONLY TWO are showing up as being approved on the list

Am I correct in assuming that 50+ people got approved over night, which deleted them from the WAITING list and moved me up into number 118. Does that make any sense? And IF so, WHY aren't they showing on the LAST 20 approved list

Maybe someone can see why I am confused???

Thanks for any explantion which makes it easier to watch and translate these charts

That's because the new processing times came out. So alot of people that are outside the processing times dropped out of that list.

But if the names removed are out of processing times ..they are still waiting, just outside of the time, right?

If so, they are still ahead of people now showing closer to the top, just not on the list.

I can explain it to you. But I can't understand it for you.

That's correct. Also keep in mind that some people don't update their time line. I analyzed this a few months ago, and found that probably the first 15 were people that stopped visiting VJ and updating their timelines.

I did quite a bit of hunting, and came up with a possible 24. Not been here in ages, noa1's from February, never posted or updated.

39,40,41 and 42 are the same people, with four entires, still. That sort of thing.

Puts us either this morning on the list proper at 52, or using my maths at 63. Hard to know which to believe.

I did the same research a few months ago. There really is no pattern. I was approved Sept. 5th. People like CJVasani who filed right after me are still waiting over 2 months later. People that filed at CSC in September have been approved. The unfortunate thing is that it is not First in First out. My advice is to go with IR-1/CR-1 so you don't have to deal with USCIS again for quite awhile. My wife would probably be here now if I stuck with the K-3, but I don't want to deal with AOS. When she hit's US soil, she will have a 10 year green card in the mail, and I am done with this for a long time. Just my opinion. A little delay now, to avoid dealing with this useless govt. agency for 10 years.

I am K1. It's a wacky sort of set-up they have, and I agree first in hasn't a thing to do with it, for any of us. I've seen people who filed and were approved who hadn't even met until weeks after we submitted our petition. Crazy.

I've just read on the Immigration Timelines at the top of the page they are processing cases with NOA1 dates of July 7th. Which would be fine, except as far as Igors' list they didn't issue any in that time frame to anyone on VJ. Makes it a bit difficult to see what little progress we do.

I am having no luck either with the online status update they have either. My petition arrived at VSC and I waited 25 days for a NOA1. Never had a touch, nothing ever changes. It doesn't appear to be working very well, if at all. All clicking on the case number does is check, or uncheck the box next to the number.

Pretty shoddy really.

I would say you have a pretty good wait ahead of you. Especially since you are at VSC. Nothing you can really do about it though. Maybe they'll pick up the pace. Good luck to you.

That is an understatement. Thank goodness IGOR was updated to reflect the current processing timeframe. As recently as this week it was still showing February 2008 as being within the processing timeframe.

It's not that IGOR is the great prognosticator of Petitions, the Oracle of Visas, but it certainly is a useful tool to track processing times. Though the Processing Times on this page show a slight upswing in times, I am still anticipating my petition to be adjudicated in four to five months.

Thanks...my timeline reads end of November first week of December. I can live with that.

Another thing that could make you jump to a lower number on the list is for example.... 5 people woke up and decided to update their timelines. They were approved back in April or May. They won't show up in the last 20 because it goes by dates. Sometimes Capt Ewok goes through the list, I think, and clears out ones that obviously have been abandoned. You can also go backwards on the list if people who filed earlier than you just discovered VJ and started a timeline. Because they have an earlier filing date, they move into the list and shove you back a few slots.

You won't be approved in order. We personally moved from #61 on Igors to approved. The list was way past needing a clean out at the time. I found the best use of Igors for me was to see who was getting approved without finding it in a post. You can look at it now and say, oh they may be getting to July filers pretty soon. It's just a fun thing to look at but not a precise science at all.

We were just approved about a week ago, about five months. This is about average from comments I received. For the most part, I ignored Igor's list from the start for the reasons stated above, plus the limited sample size. It simply didn't strike me as a good indicator of our timing.

Sometimes Capt Ewok goes through the list, I think, and clears out ones that obviously have been abandoned.

As a note, incomplete entries do not effect stats or other timeline items such as predicted NOA2 date ranges. We only look at complete "sets" when doing this (i.e. if a timeline has an NOA1 and NOA2 then we use it but ignore timelines with only an NOA2 or NOA1 only). Also I do periodically clear out obvious errors and bad timelines. I do this every week or two.

I am an Ewok. I am here to to keep the peace. Please contact me if you have a problem with the site or a complaint regarding a violation of the Terms of Service. For the fastest response please use the 'Contact Us' page to contact me.
