It's a good old UK standby, baked beans on toast (whether or not they are in fact baked) with or without cheese. Many a student has survived due to the cheap and yummy goodness of this combination. It definitely should NOT taste like candy :P

 As ghallett once stated "every bloke likes beans on toast". Variations of it are standbys in many countries.

IMO, beans-on-toast (or one of its multitude of "local variations") can taste between bland and nuclear, but definitely should not be candylike.

Variations -- burrito, chhole-bhatura, daal-roti, hummus with pita, ...

daal-roti - especially Trinidad style - *drool*

Spam is standard fare here in HI. If Spam prices rise as a result of this increased demand ####### are the locals going to move to next?

Spam Moco Loco is the breakfast/lunch/dinner of champions here:

:crying: - I used to get those at the 7-11 on Beretania St. 2-3 times a week when I was a student at UH.

I guess local bruddahs and titas will have to eat Treet -

I was at Costco this afternoon. Holy ####### that place was packed! Never seen anything like it. Oh and they had SPAM! Lots of it. Never seen that before either.

Here's a pic from my cell phone of the register lines. Is this what recessions look like? :jest:

People need to eat brother. Unless of course, the carts were filled with electronics and other inedible items.......

True. But I've really never seen it this crowded there. Maybe some of the more upscale customers are coming to Costco too?

I did some shopping this weekend and there were loads of people in the lines where I went as well. It was nuts!

What kind of store?

I went to the mall and it was pretty packed. Macy's had loads of people and so did places like Abercrombie. I also went to Target yesterday and there was some long lines there too.

Interesting, so it's not just food. People really have lost their minds.
