Approaching 1 Year wait - Need Advice

Hi, I haven't posted on here in a while. I hope everyone is doing OK.

I am in desperate need of advice.

My journey began back on December 23rd, 2007, when my I-130 arrived in VSC. We were one of the unfortunate ones at Vermont and we're still waiting.

On 11/7 our case was completed at NVC. I called about an interview date. They said "we normally do not schedule interviews the month the application is completed, so we will probably schedule you for an interview in January and inform you in December."

Between now and January me and my spouse will miss her birthday, my birthday, Christmas, New Years, and our wedding anniversary... I can't bear to make her wait any longer.

What should I do? How do you think I can go about trying to get a December interview date? Please help me.

It may also be an issue with available interview "slots"... there simply may not be any....

Option B:

GO THERE

I wish I had an answer for ya, buddy.

But one thing you can do is you can join me in urinating on the sign in front of the Homeland Security building in Washington. Then we'll hit a few bars to fill up for the sign in front of the State Department building.

Did your I129 arrive at that embassy? The embassy may be able to schedule you an interview based on the I129 if they have it. and when they receive your I130 packet, change that appointment to a CR1/IR1.

Ohhh, I'm so sorry! My NVC timing is similar, and I'm going to miss all that too :( ... There's nothing we can do, we just have to wait just a little bit longer, and think that we'll have all the Xmases, birthdays and Thanksgivings of our lives together... I already told my American: "Honey, this year your birthday, Xmas and New year are going to be officially moved to January"... man, I'm SO sad..... what about Xmas in Japan?

GOOD LUCK,

e-migra

Thank you for your responses. And I may take you up on that offer, Uncle_Wally :)

Is it true that NVC schedules the interviews now and not the Tokyo Embassy? Does the Embassy have any authority with scheduling the interview? I do not know about the I-129F, I will have to ask.

Unfortunately I was told the same thing 2 weeks ago about a "probable" interview month. Your total processing time doesn't seem too much different than mine, going back to my original I130(sent Sept 2007, recieved Dec 2007). Our case was completed Oct 9. First I hoped for Nov date, then earlier this week, NVC said December was booked. I mentioned that I was given a probable interview month of December and was told they aren't suppose to do that. So I'm just 'hopeful' for January. Bummer that we are suppose to wait until 2nd week of Dec to find out if we made the Jan list. I've been calling and talking to someone once a week for about a month. They seem to have plenty of data on me, so I don't call too much. They have asked me to confirm my address, home phone and email address.

Now I'm lost. I was under the impression that once the NVC has done their stuff, they send it off to the embassy in your spouse's home country and the embassy assigns the interview date...

NVC schedules immigrant visa interviews now for many (most?) consulates. The did this for a select few consulates in the beginning, but the number of consulates coming under the NVC scheduling umbrella has increased dramatically in the last year.

YMMV

yes, you are right.. we are doing the same now, after such a long time..

K visas get sent automatically to Consulate (our I-129F approval did that, but lawyer told us to ignore the packet 3 coming from that)..

IR-1/CR1 (I-130) visas go to NVC and they send you the Packet 3.. then everything gets sent to consulate for Packet 4..

in other words, the K visas and I-130 visas work a little differently after approval..

I-130 STAGE 1 : 533 days - 1 year 6 months (4/16/2007 to 9/22/2008)

local office interview : 2/21/2008 - brought my parents too (result : you will get approval within 2-3 weeks)

5/2/2008 - (lawsuit) Writ of Mandamus - OFFICIAL DATE (7/29/2008)
9/22/2008 - CALL AND EMAIL COPY OF APPROVAL NOTICE FROM LAWYER

NVC STAGE 2 : 99 days - 3 months (9/30/2008 to 1/7/2009)

NVC Received : 9/30/2008
Received Packet 3 (I-864/DS-230) : 11/10/2008

I have gone through everything you said. First I missed x-mas and new years last year, his birthday, my birthday, our anniversary. If I wasn't going to India this x-mas and new years, I would have missed that too, again this year. I kept thinking that he would be he by our anniversary, then by thanksgiving and surely by x-mas, but no such luck. Now I am hoping for an interview in January, because now it is too late for DEC interviews. Your in good company! :star:

Feels good to vent!

Don't worry, they do that to everyone who calls to verify that it's you and not someone else on the phone. Call as much as you like. (Just be sure to leave me some time to get through :P )
