I have to get some life insurance- my last job had great benefits and this current job doesn't so I need to find my own. But I have no idea where to start or which companies to trust etc...

Does anyone have any recommendations?

We have all of our insurance (car, house, life) with State Farm. I would also try MetLife. My parents have policies with both companies. The key is to shop around....some banks like Bank of America offer life insurance as well (They had much higher premiums than the other places I checked). I think HSBC bank had good premiums.

If you don't know where to start your search try www.suzeorman.com look under "resource" or "resource center".

State Farm is good. I have them for Life, Auto & Homeowners. Reasonable rates and they've been around for awhile with a good reputation.

make sure they talk to you about what type of life ins. is best for you...term, whole life, etc.
