Hi all,

Well i had a pretty disastrous interview yesterday - i was found ineligable for my Immigrant Visa as they found elevated levels of Gamma GT in my blood - and for this they have incorrectly presumed that i have an alcohol addiction, and refused the visa under section 212(a)(/)(A)(3). I think i just made the mistake of having a few beers the night before - silly me.

So, at the interview they asked me to fill out the I-601 waiver, as i am married to a US citizen, which i gave back to the guy there and then.

I'm just a little unsure now as to what will happen - when he was explaining it yesterday my head was all over the place. The guy at the embassy gave me his telephone & extension number, but he said they will call me back within 6 weeks?

Can anyone shed some light on how long this process may take - my wife is now back in the States expecting our 1st child in January, I think we've resigned to the fact that i'm not going to be back for the birth.

Can anyone help??

i am so sorry to hear about that. what you told me gave me a fright. apparently its what you say at the medical that has a bearing on what happens in the visa interview. I had an hour before my medical and mistakenly, to calm my nerves, had a small drink before. I just rand Knightsbridge doctors, and they said this is not a problem, unless the doctor brought it up. However I'm going to send a letter to clarify things should incase this does happen. I read through some of the other forums and they say that so long as the case stays here in the UK and doesnt go back to the US you should be ok. If they said six weeks, that should be the maximum time allowed so you will probably get an answer before that. I will be praying that you will be with your wife this christmas.

All the best

P

Same here. Same thing. You might want to take a closer look at what an elevated Gamma GT level really indicates. PM me if you would like some reading matter.

We've been waiting well over 10 weeks now. Just got to be patient I suppose. Best to get busy with something else to take the mind off it.

Sorry about your predicament regarding your expectant wife. Hope all goes well anyway.

Take care now.

Timeline.

Married in UK 31st Dec 2004.

Settled in UK short-term because immigration to UK is a normal, sensible, straightforward and understandable procedure. It follows a process of commonsense and logical thinking. The paperwork is processed in a timescale you would expect from normal human beings. We can also enjoy the comedy of being subjected to US immigration protocol without the frustration of being apart. It's very amusing from this vantage point.
