Home made passport photo?

Has anyone using passport photos taken with your own digital camera and print it with a color printer? Is there anywhere in the document or official website that states picture need to be take from a commercial photo studio?

It just gives specs and that it must be white background.... why not?

We did- when we sent in the I 130 it was pics that my husband took and cropped. We had no problems.

We took them in front of a white wall.

If it is for a Canadian passport it needs to be done by a professional studio or photographer who puts their name/stamp and date on the back of the photographs. For US immigration purposes you should be fine.

* You must be a commercial photographer to provide acceptable passport photos.

* The name of the photographer or studio, the address and the date the photo was taken (not the date the photo was printed) must be provided directly on the back of one photo (see illustration above). The photographer may handwrite this information. Stick-on labels are unacceptable. Sufficient space must be allowed for the name of the applicant, the signature of the guarantor and the guarantor’s declaration.

I went to a local walmart with my photographer (step-father) and asked to use their passport backdrop... I was surprised that they let us. I then used one of their instant photo machines and used its ID picture program. It has a digital cropping program that ensures your face is the right width and length in the photo. It cost 2 bucks to print 8 2"x2" pictures. I submitted them with my DS-160 and medical and will do the same for the AOS package.

There's no requirement for the pictures to be printed on official passport paper (the expensive part of the passport pics). Save yourself 30 bucks and buy your fiance/spouse some flowers.

We did for USCIS but for NVC and after we used a professional one. The photo on my own US passport was taken at home in fact.
