Australia's mandatory net filter is being primed to block 10,000 websites as part of a blacklist of unspecified "unwanted content".

Some 1300 websites have already been identified by the Australian Communications and Media Authority.

...

Electronic Frontiers Australia board member Colin Jacobs said his civil liberties group was concerned at what would be deemed "unwanted content".

...

"Under the current mandate that includes adult material, which would mean most material that could be rated R and, in some circumstances, material rated MA15+."

It is only a trial but a good idea. There is a lot of ####### out there that kids should not be looking at.

We have seen how allowing people to see and do anything works out. ;)

According to the Internal Revenue Service, the 400 richest American households earned a total of $US138 billion, up from $US105 billion a year earlier. That's an average of $US345 million each, on which they paid a tax rate of just 16.6 per cent.

While I am not advocating any certain action, I think eventually there will have to be some type of corral put in place for certain types of access.

It's just way to easy for the most unheard of filth to find it's way to any 8 yr old on the internet.

They certainly won't be blocking any material on Jersey. The kids will be able to bring it up by typing in Google: "How to turn your state into Chernobyl without a nuclear explosion".

Pretty funny that Australia is deeming for other people what is appropriate and what is not. Looking more and more like free and Democratic China every day.

Well that is how they work and seems to be working out well for them. How is it working for CA, oh wait.

Well hey, you could also lock people in their homes so they never get into a car accident either. That would work pretty well too. Very efficient. How about those pesky California roads where people.. *gasp*.. drive?

I wonder with every post you whine about Hollywood and ghettos why you bothered coming here. It's not going to change for you or your repressive ilk.

Skimmed them, just a bunch of whining and pining. Again, why don't you move back to your hole out there in Australia if it's so bad here?

Didn't answer the question of why you don't go back down under..

This place is clearly not your type. You'd be a lot more useful trying to repress people over there where they might care to listen to your #######.

SVRT you don't make up the majority of the US. Far from it actually. The elections results in California are also a good indication of this.

After seeing that I want to move to CA. I can come and be your neighbor.
