Ok, seriously where the heck do you live???? MOVE. There are LOTS of places in the US where you can leave your kid out and the neighbors will say something if a van pulls up. We ALWAYS have kids on our block running around and keep a general eye out for them. Really people are people, get over your stupid Australia hang up. YOU AREN'T BETTER THAN EVERYONE!

For a start I live in the wealthiest county in this country. The difference is I don't live in a bubble, in my own world, as many people here do. I actually pay attention and care what is happening outside the gated community. I pay attention to the daily shootings in DC, in the inner city ghettos, regardless of whether I live there or not. I know, how un-American and Aussie of me.

Regardless of your move suggestion, or whatever else, that does not change the reality that kids in this country are more likely to be kidnapped than in any other developed country. I cannot explain why this happens here more often but what I can do is look at the obvious differences. For a start abroad the government will limit people's access to rubbish, be it on tv or on the net. They don't have loopholes where stuff can be rated for the TV or cinema, then be downloaded or purchased as an uncut / unrated version. You may think what is the relevance of this, common sense really. The same reason why we started using ratings in the first place.

Mentally ill people are more likely to live unchecked here because they can hide under the 1st amendment amongst various others. Coupled with the reality that the more sexualized a society becomes, the more desensitized people become. Which not only fuels the fire of those who are mentally ill but also gives them a subconscious green light to carry out their actions.

Given your apparent wealth, its amazing that you have nothing better to do than sit and bicker on VJ all day every day. If I had the kind of money you claim to have, I can assure you the last thing I'd be doing is arguing with people who's minds you will never change.
