Timeline

I grew up on fried okra and loved it. Then about a month ago, we bought some and Jinky prepared it by steaming the okra. Good lawd I had no idea how slimy it is when you don't fry it. I don't think I could eat it unless it is fried.

Beets are terrible....Ever tried Borscht, the Russian soup? Bleh....

Brussel sprouts are great with lots of butter, honey and (salt/white pepper).

there are all different kinds of borscht and yes some have beets.. I don't like those kind :P

William, have you ever tried Kang Kong?

Yes, but it's Kangkung in Indonesia (water spinach). I had to ask my wife for the definition.....

She cooks it with a spicy paste and it's really good! :thumbs:

I did not know that...Thanks. My Mother used to "drink" the beet version and loved it, and she is Italian. When I tried it, I almost hurled....

Awesome! It's one of my favorite Filipino dishes. :thumbs: It's labeled Ong Choy at the asian markets where we buy it. :)

That looks pretty good. My Mom bought some bottled red liquid with floating julienne beets. Sorry, could not find a good photo.

Thanks for the tip. I believe water spinach is one of those "impossible to find stateside" items. Perhaps we will grow some and sell it!!!
