Hello,

I am new to the board but from the posts I have read, this seems to be a warm, friendly crowd. My name is Serenity (yep, real name) and am married to a Ghanaian, Ali. We met while I was studying abroad. After I finished my degree, I returned to Ghana and lived with him for a period of four months. After which, we married and I left for the US to start the Visa process. That's a little background, now I have a question.

I know that a police certificate is required by some consulates but there is some sort of exception for those countries that do not issue police certificates. I read somewhere that Ghana does not require a police certificate. Can anyone confirm this? What do you give the consulate in its stead? Ironically, I have a lawyer assisting me in the case and he does not know if Ghana is one of those countries that does not require the certificate and he does not know which document to fill for a waiver/replacement.

Interview Date : March 30th, 2009 @ Accra Embassy.

RFE: April 22nd, 2009 @ Accra Embassy.

2nd RFE: May 13th, 2009 @ Accra Embassy.

Visa Received : Told to pick up Visa May 15th, 2009 @ Accra Embassy.

UPDATE: When May 15th arrived, Ali received a call to pick his Visa the following Friday, May 22nd @ 8 AM @ Accra Embassy. Apparently, they are behind in processing.

US Entry :

Comments : FREE AT LAST! OH Good LORD, we're free at last!

Processing

Estimates/Stats : Your I-130 was approved in 32 days from your NOA1 date.

Ghana DOES require a police certificate.

Go to: http://www.ghanapolice.org/

Click on "CID" on the top menu bar.

Click on "Clearance Certificate" on the left menu bar. It will give you the details how to get a police certificate.

We got ours a week from when he went and applied for one.
