I don't really have advice...but I just got my passport changed to my married name finally a few months ago in preparation for visiting India sometime soon. I didn't want to think of the headache that might happen at Indian immigration about that.

Now you have to get a whole new passport to change your name, unless I am wrong. But it may matter how long since your passport was issued.

I got a whole new one, and as a lady I'll warn you that they now make faces look hideously ORANGE and stretched out on passport pictures that are put in the passport. LOL. You send them pictures, and it looks like a different picture in the passport!

I am waiting with my passport. I just bought my ticket in my maiden name when I was going back home this summer.

The only problem was that my daughter was travelling with me and her ticket (and passport) was in our family name. In Paris, our boarding passes were red flaged because of it but after they looked over her birth certificate and my marriage papers everything was fine.

Unless the airline will change the name on the ticket (very doubtful) you'll need a passport to match the ticket.
