Ohhh you know what's funny? The Lexus hybrid costs about 20k more than its counterpart yet gets only about 2 mpg more.

That's the marvel of Toyota engineering. Japan rules. It will only take 230 years to make up the price difference of the hybrid over the regular model. SRVT will probably buy several since money is no object and he goes to sleep at night dreaming of Toyota.

At the same time, logic says, for combustible engines, the bigger car you get, the worse mileage you get as more fuel is needed to pull the weight, the more money you waste. The more people with bigger cars, the more gas gets used, the lower supply gets (remembering crude is not an infinite resource), the higher the price gets. Is this a difficult concept to grasp?

I personally don't care if it's $2/gallon or $10/gallon, but I understand that most people do.

GM understand it too. They

why the hell can you say that and not get b*tched out? I said that a few months ago and was fire bombed.

because he's a cute little gecko - and you're not. :D

I think he said it a little differently than I did. Mine was a lot more "I don't give a #### if you can't afford it because I can"

Now, if you want to actually be serious rather than make a joke statement, I'd have bought a GM car had they continued their EV1 trend. But no. They wanted to make a bold faced lie and suggest us Californians had no interest in EV1s. Horse sh*t. There was a political game behind it, which explains why they bought out the Nickel Medal Hydride batteries that were used in the Ev1 and refused to give them out to cars which could have used them back then.

The batteries alone cost $35,000. Would you pay $35,000 to replace them?

Do you have any idea of the environmental footprint of these batteries? Of course not you studied liberal arts. AKA The jack of all trades master of none degree.

May hell freeze over when I, or anyone rational, listen to some obsessive compulsive kid from Australia with ####### envy tell me about California.

California very well could be self-sufficient, and would be amongst the top nations in the world if it were so. Of course, this has what to do with cars? Oh yeah, nothing. You might want to whine about blacks and ghettos now.

Is that supposed to mean something coming from a 26 year old wanker who thinks by talking tough he will force his warped view down everyone's throat.

The second line proves you fit the role of marketing  nicely.

PS Stay off the crack man. It is screwing up your brain.

According to the Internal Revenue Service, the 400 richest American households earned a total of $US138 billion, up from $US105 billion a year earlier. That's an average of $US345 million each, on which they paid a tax rate of just 16.6 per cent.

Guess what, when a gallon of gas costs $1-2, who's going to want to buy a hybrid?

Guess what, when it isn't going to stay that way, who's going to want to keep shitty gas guzzlers? The market spoke for itself.

I personally like powerful muscle cars and couldn't care less about fuel economy.

I also like SUVs - the bigger, the better. Not everyone wants a wimpy Japanese econobox. ;)

SVRT loves the Prius. Even when I rolled him and showed him how the naturally aspirated Fiat Punto I have in Greece gets much better MPG.

I think this is the first discussion I had with him and instantaneously realized he does not know what he is talking about.

After all this is the same guy after all who claims his 3 spd Neon gets about 45mpg and that electric cars are reliable as the technology has been proven in SCSI HDD.

Strange, like my education you aren't able to actually comprehend what you're arguing against. This is why you get "wild tangent". All bark and no bite.

Well considering my friend is an engineer at GM in AUS I think I would have some idea. I argued with him about the same car until he mentioned the actual reasons they scrapped it. Which made a lot of sense. He did admit they made a mistake underestimating the demand for a prius though.

To name a few: First of all it was a hideous car. Second of all they were producing the cars at a loss. GM is not Greenpeace.

Would Californians like you buy it once they saw the carbon footprint required to produce and discard the batteries. No. You would be making films on how GM is polluting the earth.

The car makes we want to vomit.
