401k went from 40K to a little over 2K

Holy cow! How did that happen?

It's easy if you're one of the people who has your 401K account settings set to "aggressive". Your money is invested in risky stocks that, if they don't tank, could make you a lot of money. Back when I had a 401K many years ago, I had my portfolio set for "Safe". Less money-making potential, but much less chance of my money going away.

Lady, people aren't chocolates. Do you know what they are mostly? Bastards. ####### coated bastards with ####### filling. But I don't find them half as annoying as I find naive bobble-headed optimists who walk around vomiting sunshine.

i've lost about $60k on my house and my savings in the uk are worth half what they were in the states a few months ago. my partner's 401k has been affected too. pretty lame. :angry:

I'm in the process of selling my house in London and it's not that nice :crying:

i've lost about $60k on my house and my savings in the uk are worth half what they were in the states a few months ago. my partner's 401k has been affected too. pretty lame. :angry:

I'm in the process of selling my house in London and it's not that nice :crying:

i hear you on that one. it sucks big time! my only solace is that we are young (ish, hehe) and have time to recuperate. right now though... :ranting:
