its been almost a few months since the start of the market downfall and the world crisis.. and im really disappointed because of our investments.. we are losing every month and im kinda scared that after a year we wont have any more money to get from the mutual fund.. what did you do with yours? we are advised to let the investment stay in there because when we withdraw them that's the time that we are really going to lose..

Nothing...we didn't have any 401K or stocks or anything. Just a cash savings account. But Hubby just opened some kind of retirement account at his new job.

Loss of home equity due to the downturn - now that I can quantify but I try so hard not to think about it that I forgot about it till now.

My house value went from $430k to $365k.

Due to the crash my company has deleted their match to our 403b and cash balance accounts and has given us all a 4% cut in pay. Initially I was po'd and wanted to leave but because of the crappy job market and the fact that I have 12 years of service I've decided to stick it out.

During the oil price hike I had to buy home heating oil which was a HUGE chunk of change and ended in our cancelling some vacations we had planned.

Because of the home crisis my child support is now pretty much nonexistant since my ex owns a kitchen cabinetry business. No home equity = no home improvement loans = ex is out of work. That was around $1,100/month.

My husband works as a waitor and immediately after the crash his tips went from around $100/night to around $20/night. He works for a 5 star restaurant though so I'm sure the cheaper restaurants are probably getting an increase in clientelle.

Bottom line this sucks bad but still my parents remind me that it's no where near as bad as what they went through in the depression and war where butter, etc was being rationed.
