Maersk Line today confirmed it will close one of its two global service centers in China in response to slowing ocean container traffic across its network.

...

The Guangzhou center, which handles logistics and customer service for Maersk Line, will be closed by mid-2009 with the loss of around 700 jobs.

...

China is one of Maersk’s biggest markets but trade on the Asia-Europe route, which grew 20 percent in 2007, declined 3 percent in the third quarter of 2008 from a year ago, prompting the carrier to slash cargo capacity by around 10 percent.

Looks like we have finally stopped buying #######.

According to the Internal Revenue Service, the 400 richest American households earned a total of $US138 billion, up from $US105 billion a year earlier. That's an average of $US345 million each, on which they paid a tax rate of just 16.6 per cent.
