So yesterday I had a REALLY terrible day at work. I had my boss on my back all day and also I have been dealing with getting the mortgage all on my own because my husband works in a restaurant and doesn't work in the kind of environment where he can sit on the phone and send faxes. Nevertheless, I was ready to karate chop someone at the end of the day.

Any ways, so I go home and get my dog and take her for a walk....I'm just trying to forget about my day. I get back to the house to realize my dog has eaten a whole months worth of birth control pills. So I take her to the vet and they had to empty her stomach and now she's a sick little thing.

I have no clue if this is going to affect her physiology. I know if I took a whole pack of birth control at once I might get sick so... I don't feel so great about it.

"...My hair's mostly wind,

My eyes filled with grit

My skin's white then brown

My lips chapped and split

I've lain on the prairie and heard grasses sigh

I've stared at the vast open bowl of the sky

I've seen all the castles and faces in clouds

My home is the prairie and for that I am proud…

If You're not from the Prairie, you can't know my soul

You don't know our blizzards; you've not fought our cold

You can't know my mind, nor ever my heart

Unless deep within you there's somehow a part…

A part of these things that I've said that I know,

The wind, sky and earth, the storms and the snow.

Best say that you have - and then we'll be one,

For we will have shared that same blazing sun." - David Bouchard

The same exact thing happened to my best friend's beagle. She was fine, I don't even think they took her to the vet.

The same dog has also eaten a whole salami sandwich with the saran wrap still on, a giant costco sized bag of m&m's including the package, haha. In those cases the vet said she would just be sick for a couple of days then be okay.

Hope you have a better day at work today!

Wow...my dog has eaten a lot of things but most of it is paper and tissues. It cost me $236 to take her to the vet last night and now I think if it was worth it or not. My fear was that she had also eaten parts of the hard plastic case that I keep them in. So it had actually cut up her intestine a little because there was quite a lot of blood in her throw up. (sorry guys! I know that is gross)

So I guess I wanted to get that out of her before it did more damage.

What a day though, you know? When it rains, it pours they say.

UGH! What is it about dogs that they just put anything into their mouth! Hefty vet bill! Yikes! Poor puppy! I hope too there aren't too many shards of plastic that she's going to have to poop out!

Hope she's feeling better soon! (F) Oh yes...and that Mommy is feeling better soon as well! ;)(F)

Thank ya!

I'm hoping to have a better day myself!! Lots of little stresses lately and even though I was in Las Vegas for 4 days, that was a big stress too! I don't recommend going there if you want to relax.

AWWWW your poor little sweetie... this is one of those stories that is not funny at the time, but a few days or weeks later since she'll be just fine, you'll be telling people and laughing about it. Murphy's Law isn't it!?

I know, Charles.

Worst thing though is now I'm out of pills again and I can't get more than one package a month :(

Poor puppy AND puppy mommy! I hope the stress ends (or at least gets better) soon!

I wanted to add... I'm a pharmacy tech and there are some cases that prescriptions can be filled early. Since it's BC and not a controlled substance, it wouldn't hurt to call the pharmacy and see if they can talk to the insurance about an override, if you use insurance for your medications. If you don't have insurance, the pharmacist might okay an early fill since you are out. Just a thought! :)

or u can call ur DR and see if he has any FREE samples of the same stuff u are using!!

Canadians Visiting the USA while undergoing the visa process, my free advice:

1) Always tell the TRUTH. never lie to the POE officer

2) Be confident in ur replies

3) keep ur response short and to the point, don't tell ur life story!!

4) look the POE officer in the eye when speaking to them. They are looking for people lieing and have been trained to find them!

5) Pack light! No job resumes with you

6) Bring ties to Canada (letter from employer when ur expected back at work, lease, etc etc)

7) Always be polite, being rude isn't going to get ya anywhere, and could make things worse!!

8) Have a plan in case u do get denied (be polite) It wont harm ur visa application if ur denied, that is if ur polite and didn't lie! Refer to #1

I might do that if I have time. I will see what I can do. I'm really just avoiding going to the doctor in general to be honest. Hate doctors.

Aw, gosh! How soon did you notice she ate the pack?

Just wondering, why is it you're only allowed to purchase 1 pack at a time? I know I've gotten 3-4 months worth before. I'm sure your doctor will understand the situation(give him/her another story to tell the family when he/she gets home!).

Hope things work out for you & your pup!!
