You've got nothing to lose. Why not?

Don't just open your mouth and prove yourself a fool....put it in writing.

It gets harder the more you know. Because the more you find out, the uglier everything seems.

Narina--I was checking this strand when I read your post. Both of us are optmists, I think. After waiting 7 1/2 months and calling day after day, getting depressed, frustrated, discouraged, and nowhere, I wrote and sent a letter to the 9 members of the US Judiciary Subcommittee (all senators), my House of Rep members, and the Ombudsman and posted it here at VJ, so others could do the same. These nine members oversee USCIS. Did you read this letter? Did you send it, too? Well, two weeks later, our petitions were approved. Strongly, I believe the letters helped, no matter what anyone else here thinks. It was such a huge blessing--miracle, really b/c I was getting nothing from the phone reps. I sent all confirmed receipt to have a record. My motivation was to get help for my husband and me and so many others like us who follow procedures, put in long hours to get our petitions done correctly, and wait endlessly for an approval. I wanted the senators to know just how much it hurts to be separated and how long this process is taking. I don't believe they really knew. Also, I sent the tracking sheets, just so they'd see many others are not getting notices by the dates posted on the website The regular processing time :crying: There is hope when we take positive measures to change our situations. Perhaps it's my spirit of optimism that refused to give in to my frustrations and pushed me to think out of the box. Of course, my enduring love for my husband is the biggest factor of all. I wish you the best and encourage you to check my posts; the letter to the senators is there somewhere. All the best--Amor1

I'm gonna try anyway.

Theymay not be able to "do" anything, but they can get you answers and add a little pressure to USCIS.

If I dont hear anything on my latest inquiry..Im filling out the 7001 form and sending it back to the ombudsman

Timeline: 13 month long journey from filing to visa in hand

If you were lucky and got an approval and reunion with your loved one rather quickly; Please refrain from telling people who waited 6+ months just to get out of a service center to "chill out" or to "stop whining" It's insensitive, and unecessary. Once you walk a mile in their shoes you will understand and be heard.

Thanks!

An ombudsman is basically is an agency who advocates for the public n regards to government entities..

I had never heard of one until I started in healthcare.

Let me find the official definition lol

om·buds·man (mbdzmn, -bdz-, -bdz-)

n.

1. A man/wpman who investigates complaints and mediates fair settlements, especially between aggrieved parties such as consumers or students and an institution or organization.

2. A government official, who investigates citizens' complaints against the government or its functionaries.

I hope that clears it up :)
