is this a scam? Please help

I was married by someone who used me for his Green Card. In another relationship, although I love this man I dont want this to happen to me again so I dot my i, and cross my t's and yes im guilty about allowing the past to hunt me. I do want to know if this is ok to do or if this is another scam to use me again. My frien asked me to set him reservation in a country that would freely allow him to come to USA. He stated that once he received reservation (invitation to come?) he would take it to the Embassy or Immugration Im not sure on it. They would allow him to go over then once there he can come to USA. Im not sure of the timeline on any of this.

Im wondering if this is a scam once he gets over, get what he needs and thats it. Please if u have info pleas share with me i dont want a repeat of my first husband.

Go check out the guides up top. The US does not send out reservations or invitations. The USC submits a petition for a fiance or spouse that is looked over by an adjudicator in the US to make sure certain requirements are met. The petition then gets sent to the SO's country where they are sent a packet of info to complete and then given an interview date. The SO goes to the interview, gets varying degree's of questions and requests for proof of a relationship and hopefully gets approved. The visa is then issued at the SO has 6 months in which to enter the US. They then have 90 days in which to marry the petitioner.

Following entry, the new couple sends in paperwork for adjustment of status (AOS). Again after a wait, the couple is given an interview date they BOTH must attend to receive the green card. Finally after 2 years, they must reapply to remove conditions on the green card (put in place to help prevent fraud).

I think it is very wise of you to make sure you aren't being scammed again this time. Take your time, get to know him and his family. Go visit several times and have him talk with your family. Get everyone's feeling on the guy and trust your gut. Good luck!

Hi,

You know if it doesn't feel 100% good, then don't do it. If you do go against your instincts, then accept it if it turns out to be a scam. However, the scheme does sound illegal and not well thought out because even if this person does get to that other country there is still the risk of trying to get into the US and remain here legally. Are you willing to be a party to something that might be illegal? Please take care of yourself and heal your heart .

I'm sure this is another scam that west Africans often play on Americans. Even if you visit and spend time with him, you will be manipulated into doing what he suggests, and his extended family will help him. No matter what country he might travel to (e.g., England), his citizenship is still Nigerian. While someone who is a British citizen can easily travel to the U.S., he cannot.

Hmmm... Is he requesting an invitation to visit the US or requesting that you file a K-1 petition? I agree with Msu17 that you need to really get to know him and his family and his past. I can understand your concerns since you had a bad experience in the past. I personally do not blame you for being cautious. Please take your time and evaluate all that you discover. I believe once you do that then you can make a sound and safe decision. Do not allow anyone to push you into something that you are having reservation about

I'm not sure what you mean by reservation. But the whole thing doesn't make any sense. My advice would be to make sure everything is resolved with your ex (divorce finalized etc.) before pursuing a K1 with this new guy (I'm guessing thats what you were thinking since its in the K1 forum, but then again maybe its there b/c your question didn't really fit anywhere else). Do your best not to let your past haunt you. Learn from your previous situation. If you are wondering if its a scam its a good time to step back from the situation and look at it from a different perspective. I'm sure you'll make the right decision for yourself.
