I've just had my fingerprint appointment. It was fairly uneventful. I showed up at the application support center 30 minutes before my appointment and I filled out the info form, then was given a ticket with a number on it (like at a supermarket deli). I was not made to wait until my actual appointment time to check in. After reading the book I had brought for about 15 minutes, I was taken back and my fingerprints were captured with some kind of fancy "no ink" computer fingerprint machine. The actual fingerprinting process, from the moment I stepped in the door of the ASC to the moment I left took no more than half an hour - very efficient indeed.

Next step - interview letter. I hope it arrives before the end of January.

11/14/08 - sent off N-400 to Vermont Service Center

11/18/08 - NOA stating app sent to National Benefits Center

11/24/08 - NOA giving fingerprinting appointment

12/18/08 - fingerprinting appointment

hi everyone, just a little update from cambodia--i am naturalizing from abroad under 319b. i received a letter on november 26 that my fingerprints, which i had to submit along with the application, were rejected. apparently the embassy is bangkok is handing out the wrong forms for this. :wacko:

luckily, the embassy here in phnom penh finally stepped up and redid the prints for me (the first time around they said they couldn't, thus my trip to bangkok).

anyway, that is all the news i have. and i am not sure how will this impact the overall progress of my application. should i still expect an NOA1 or does the letter regarding the fingerprints serve that role?

if so, then i received it 11/26/08.

keeping my ink-stained fingers crossed that the prints will be accepted this time.

Hi everyone,

I had my fingerprint appointment in Tuesday December 16th (got the letter for it exactly one week before on Dec 9th, it was postmarked Dec 7th). Was out of town since then, so just getting a chance to let you all know. It was very efficient - on a rare rainy day in Phoenix, it was just me and a large family at the app support center here on Thomas Road. I was in and out in less than 15 minutes. No picture taken this time, unlike the green card fingerprinting process.

I hope to receive the interview notice in January... keeping fingers crossed.

I was scheduled for biometrics 12/26 but when I got to the office it was closed. Sign on the door said come back within 87 days. :wacko:

Guess I shouldn't be surprised since USCIS always manages to screw something up for me.

That's exactly what I did and they received it exactly 2 years 9 months and 2 days from the days I Became a Permanent Resident.

Guys, question for ya: Did any of you file 2 years 9 months from becoming a resident? I am trying to figure out if USCIS is waiting with my file to get to 3 years or something

January 6, 2009 > Biometric appointment (day 43)

February 5, 2009 > Interview appointment letter in the mail (day 74)

March 26, 2009 > Interview date (day 121)

April 6, 2009 > Oath letter in mail (day 132)

April 17, 2009 > Oath ceremony (day 143 )

April 17, 2009 > I am a US Citizen now!!!

Yeah, I applied close to 2yrs and 9 months after becoming a PR.

On a separate note, I had the quickest biometric outing to date. I was in and out in 7 mins at the New Rochelle, NY office. It was a Saturday afternoon and there was hardly anyone at the office.

N-400

11-07-08 Mailed application to VT

11-20-08 NOA1 from NBC in Missouri

12-06-08 Biometrics

01-24-09 recieve appointment for 3/25 interview

01-25-09 Mailed letter to Hartford requesting new interview date (away on 3/25 at brother's wedding)

02-12-09 Recieve letter from NBC stating they have recieved my request for new interview date

02-21-09 Recieve letter for interview on April 7th. Hartford's got it's act together!

05-08-09 Oath ceremony in New Haven CT

Removal of Conditions

11-28-07 Mailed I-751 to VT

12-12-07 NOA (date-12-07-07)

01-10-08 Biometrics Appt

10-30-08 Approval letter (dated 10-27-08-approved!). Zero touches prior to letter

11-04-08 10-yr card arrives in the mail

I walked in today for my fingerprints since the office was closed on Friday. I was in and out in less than 10 mins. I didn't have to wait at all. The staff at the office said they were happy to have something to do because they were bored. Apparently, things have really quietened down for them since the fees increased and now that the economy is doing so poorly. I guess that's some good news for all of us with pending applications. :)
