November 26, 2008 > Application delivered to TSC. Confirm by Postal Service (day 2)

December 04, 2008 > Check Cashed (day 9)

December 08, 2008 > NOA 1 in Mail / Case tranferred to National Benefit Center (day 14)

December 15, 2008 > Biometric appointment letter in mail (day 21 )

January 6, 2009 > Biometric appointment (day 43)

February 5, 2009 > Interview appointment letter in the mail (day 74)

March 26, 2009 > Interview date (day 121)

April 6, 2009 > Oath letter in mail (day 132)

April 17, 2009 > Oath ceremony (day 143 )

April 17, 2009 > I am a US Citizen now!!!

April 20, 2009 > Applied for my US passport via USPS Expedite service and mail my voter's registration card application

It's done!!!! (Same day oath too!!) :dance::dance::dance::dance::dance: Thank you!! Thank you!! Thank you!!! all for all your support!!!!! I am sure it went well for my other fellow VJers who had their interview today...

Here is our full experience....

Got there at 7:15.

Interview started at 7:35

Civic questions asked:

1. When was the declaration of independence adopted?

2. We elect a president for how many years?

3. What is the name of the speaker of the house?

4. What do we call the 1st 10 amendements?

5. What one is the longest river in US?

6. Who lived in America before the Europeans arrived?

He asked all the Yes/No questions for the N-400 Application.

Other questions asked.

1. Where do you work and what do you do?

2. What your yearly salary?

3. What does your husband do?

4. What is your husband's annual salary?

5. When did you buy your house?

6. How much did you buy your house for and how much was the downpayment?

7. How many trips have you taken outside of United States?

8. What was the purpose of your last trip to India?

9. How many times your husband has been married?

Sentence to read....

>> Who was Abraham Lincoln?

Sentence to write....

>> Abraham Lincoln was the President during the Civil War.

Congratulations!!!! :) Oath back at 1:30 this afternoon....

11/18/08 - NOA stating app sent to National Benefits Center

Yup, I have the same day oath too at 1:30PM and am about to get out of the house to go there, congrats lomeshp. I think my officer was already tired or not warmed up coz he asked me to verify my personal info, last time I was abroad. Then he asked me my wife's first name... Then he asked me if I was sure:) He then picked the most interesting questions from the yes/no section. I had a replacement page printed to include my traffic/parking tickets but he did not even take it to attach it to the file - the file was like 15 inches thick anyway... Just confirmed if all of them were taken care of. Then he went ahead and asked me 6 questions:

-What is religious freedom - I kinda stuttered on this one but then my mind started working and all other went smooth

-Date the constitution was written

-One state bordering Canada

-Name the Ocean to the East of US

-How many Senators there are

-Hmm, I forgot the last one...

Then, he had me read: What do we pay to the government?

Then, he had me read: We pay taxes.

And then he congratulated me but said he had one more question to ask: if I would like to become an American Citizen this afternoon?

I smiled and said: I would. He gave me this piece of paper, one side has the Oath time. The other side has like 10 questions that you are supposed to answer to make sure nothing changed between the time of the interview and the oath. So, no drinking and driving after the interview or else there won't be any oath:)

I thanked him and was outta there!

Thanks for all your support guys and good luck to all others!

I am very happy that this is over, now I gotta drive to Houston to get my passport as I am leaving for Poland next month and don't want to risk it. If I go 14 days before the departure, they will have my passport ready the same day, how crazy is that:)
