AR is usually the least amount of time is 45 days not counting holidays and weekends is what you are told as a standard response. AR can last for days or months. So I cannot give you an exact timing. To check on your status in the states call DOS.

After you punch in this set of numbers you will get an operator. Give them your case number, dob, and petitioners name. Ask for an update and if it is on file with them they will tell you so. Good luck.

Someone at DOS told me that AR (aka security clearance/administrative review/administrative processing) will take from 3-6 months . . . I am just past the 3 months mark when the consulate in Cairo sent it to DOS on Nov. 8th (no update as of today when I called DOS). Not sure why I was told 3-6 months, and Mary was told 45 days . . . I guess depends on situation, what they are doing, or probably just how they decide to torture us by making us wait.

Our Administrative Processing took 5 weeks. Majid got the visa in his passport 2 days after the DOS said the visa was approved, but the consulate called him a few days before the DOS even said it was approved to drop off his passport.

I am at 60 days and our standard response on our 221g said it was for 45 days not counting the weekends and holidays (today is our magic 45 days, lol) before we could inquire on the status. I am sending an email to the embassy this weekend to try and get them to give us an update next week. I emailed them once before and told not to contact them until after today. But the timing can be days or months. DOS has no record of any updates since Ishteaq's interview on Dec 12th. We have not had AR sent to states our case is looking like it is only AP at this time. They can issue AR later if they want too. :( and am praying that they do not. Good luck to everyone and praying that we are reunited soon with our loved ones.
