Isn't that sort of what Michael Jackson is/was going through?

Anyone who puts themselves through that kind of hell has some serious self-image issues.

Mental health is an area that few people understand so the tendency unfortunately is to make fun of the people for doing weird and wacky things. Sadly its often very different if you have had to deal with a relative who has gone through manic depression or some other mental illness.

There's a syndrome where people can't see themselves the way they actually look. Dysmorphia? Something like that. I assume this person has something like this.
