angel7407 -> First of all, thank you for posting my previous answer (for the same topic)...

pho4ray -> just hang in there and support her. As I have posted many times before, being treated does not mean you will not have the PTB again. The Mycobacteria can stay dormant and gets re-activated and or she could have re-infection. There is no "immunity" when you have been previously infected and treated, that is why for any "suspicious" findings on the CXRay results, they have to do the sputum test (Sputum AFB and culture & sensitivity) which takes atleast 3-4 weeks for the bacteria to grow in the culture media. You may have to re-schedule your trip to the Philippines and wait until SLEC (and USEM) have all the medical results and you have the new interview schedule. Few more weeks of waiting will be worth it. Good Luck and God Bless.

My wife also had a false positive test for TB, the doctor finding some suspicious "spot' on the X-ray at the St. Lukes medical exam. She noticed all the other ladies pulled aside for the same thing and I can see all the indications that it is nothing but a racket, a typical corrupt scheme to extort more money from desparate overseas family for bogus exams and extra doctor visits and rebooking fees to airlines and all the related bs!

St. Lukes offers no contact information to dispute their authority or credentials, since they have the monopoly on the business. This is SOP in the Philippines. Is prayer our only solution to this injustice? Is there no action we can take? They hold our family hostage in a foreign land to extort ransom money from us and there is nothing we can do?

I could pay for a dozen qualified doctors to argue the case, but St. Lukes will not recognize them. Would it help to have such independent test results available or would emails from congressmen and senators be more effective with these people? I would happily pay an attorney to help if he could.

It seems that they have all the power and no accoutability which is the perfect recipe for corruption, and from my own personal experience there, it is almost a certain thing.

They have the power to interpret X-rays or lab results any way they chose, so if they don't like my wifes smile, they can easily force her to remain in the Philippines indefinitely with no recourse, paying for unnecessary treatments and even permanently denied visa.

Does anybody know some meaningful legal action to take against these "gangsters in labcoats" or any ideas what we might expect to happen?

Or, perhaps somebody has personal experience or information to the contrary?
