Kerry, who voted to give President Bush authorization to use force against Saddam Hussein in 2002, said he would attach an amendment to this summer's defense appropriations bill calling for a total withdrawal of U.S. combat troops by the end of this year. But he acknowledged that the idea would be unpopular. "I know I'm not going to get the majority of my own caucus."

Kerry is a moron and a douchebag and probably the worst possible democratic nominee for president since Dukakis. However, the whole flip-flop-affair is total BS and nothing but smear-tactics and propaganda by the Bush-campaign afraid of losing an election. First of all, there is not a single member of congress who has not changed his mind on one issue or the other after a certain time. If people didn't change their minds due to more information we wouldn't vote for them. Second, Bush is probably not the right person to hold up as a non-flipflop example, remember the idea of returning integrety back to the white house or keeping out of world politics...

Btw, if you look at a post called "Don't mention the war 2" on this board, you will see that Kerry is not the only one who's changing his mind on the issue. It's called presidential race 2008 and features prominent congresspeople from both parties.

Staying the course is currently for those who don't need a political future...

I'm curious how many people actually feel our troops should remain in Iraq, and how many more casualties are acceptable?

Can someone please explain to me how Iraq isn't just another Vietnam? Or how does having troops in Iraq protect the US?
