Hi Everyone,

We have great news. We received the Visa today!! Exactly one month after the interview. The Visa was delayed due to an incorrect type of Police Certificate from Australia. It took 21 days to receive the correct Police Certificate, this one with fingerprints.

Next step is POE in Honolulu on Monday, June 22.

How is everyone else doing?? I know Dblady was planning POE last weekend.

Greg

Soooooooooooooo happy for you! Have some macadamia nuts and a lei, relax and love.

moving right along

Hi Gennyangel and usagroom,

Thanks for your wishes. We leave Hong Kong for the states today.

Gennyangel, yes I do think Honolulu POE is friendly. At least that's our experience with immigration and customs agents in the past. Have a great flight in August.

Aloha,

Greg

Thanks Joe and Dblady.

We just returned home yesterday. POE in Honolulu was easy. At first we got into the wrong line which was for US Citizens. Then we found out we should be in the New Immigrant line. Waited about 15 minutes for an officer to call us. Then it only took a few minutes. We made sure we had the bottom part of the I-94 form which he stapled in the passport. I've read about cases where people did not get the I-94 and then had problems when they filed for AOS.

Joe, glad you had a good trip to Colombia, but sorry to hear that there has been no progress. Have you tried to contact the Embassy (in Bogota?) and see if they have any update? I found the Embassy in Hong Kong very good to deal with. They would not bend their rules, but in the end they did expede the Visa processing.

They only accept calls on Wednesdays for a 2 hour period regarding your specific case, and all I ever get is that it is still in process- nothing more. I also call the DOS every couple of days, as they have the ability to see any updated info as well. I have no idea how long this will take and what the results may be when they do call her.....

That's frustrating Joe. I know each Embassy is different in the way they operate. Hope you get good news soon.

Gennyangel,

The new immigrant line is on the left, just inside the door when you enter the immigration hall. There is a table where they collect your sealed envelopes and hand you a number. Then you sit for a little while until they call your number. We had arrived on a Hawaiian Airlines flight from Manila to Honolulu. There were no other international flights that arrived at the same time, so the only people in the hall were passengers from our flight. There were 7 other new immigrant cases in line ahead of us. Most were families.

We live in Kailua Kona on the Big Island, so not in Honolulu. Will you be living in Honolulu? Where abouts? We may consider moving there at some time in the future. Very slow and quiet here.

Greg,

Currently my fiance is living in kalihi district just a few minutes from downtown honolulu then we will be moving out of kalihi once i get a job but still within honululu. It is quite expensive in Oahu than in big island but there are more opportunities in Oahu. My fiance moved in hawaii 2007 from California and hes starting to like it and considering living here. So i might like it too since hawaii is only 10 hrs flight from the Philipines, lots of Filipino's as well. Theres a variety of food and the weather, not too hot or cold just fine. Though it may be expensive living in hawaii particularly honolulu, you got what you pay for and this is paradise. I also have a friend in the Big island :D. I will be taking PAL airlines a direct flight from here cuz my fiance did had a hard time booking me on a Hawaiian Airlines.

Wait, did you went to Manila to take your flight? thought Hawaiian Airlines is a direct flight going Honolulu.

Are you Haole? :innocent:
