I am a Craigslist Buyer. I want to buy a washer and I have an extra TV that I want to ship to Jamaica. (Secrets out Ladies. I aint washing nothing on my hands, I love that Island, but I am a city girl!!)

Can anyone please tell me how to do this without spending a huge amount of money on UPS ($900 to ship a 24inch color TV.)

Also what does it mean when the VJ'ers are saying "Ship a Barrel"?

Thanks for the help

Journee

Journee, I bumped the Survival guide thread - there are a few different shipping suggestions there.

Ship a barrel is exactly that - You purchase a barrel, fill it with items, then ship it to JA.

Good luck, it seems any which way you try, the cost is ridiculous - Some times it can be cheaper to buy the item there than it is to try to ship it - because you have to add on customs and duty to all those shipping costs.

Journee,

My family stopped shipoubg things to Jamaica years ago it cost too DAMN much. It's better to just purchase it out there. If they don't kill you with the taxes and customs fees you run the risk of having your items damage. At some items are a pain in the next when it comes to clearing customs.

No but I visit every month and he washes our clothes by hand. Or he will pay someone. I am tired of bringing home dirty undies (I dont want him / her washing my "drawers" and hanging them in the yard) So I found a washer on craigslist for $125 . So I was considering sending it to Jamaica.

I bumped it Eastbound - Courts allows you to shop online for electronics, etc... There are grocery stores that let you either shop and they pick it up - or you can send a gift certificate -

If anyone wants to ship me a washer, feel free (hint hint....secret santa!)

Mine is stuck in the lock position right now. I can see where the grey lip part came off the drum. Have to figure out how to get the stupid screws out tonight, open the front panel, open the door, and fix it.

I hate machinery.
