Do I have enough in the eyes of the government for my affidavit of support:

Income: $14,000 (I'm a full-time student so this is from my part-time work-study job)

Assets: Bonds $11,000

Stock $6000

IRA $500 (used to be $1000 before the economic down turn!)

Checking $1000

No savings!

I've got $17,400 coming into my bank account as deposits annually (1450 a month) from my parents (rent money).

I don't own any property.

I know the 125% poverty line is 17,500 and I need the difference from my income and the line by 3X. I've got that.

But..

For the last 3 years my parents have claimed me as dependent on their taxes AND the years before that I made only 9,000 and 8,000. (I haven't lived with my parents in the last 3 years)

I graduate in December (my job is work-study) and won't be able to get another full-time job till February (when I return to US.)

I have the option of having my mother be a co-sponsor but I rather have only myself be liable.

Chances of my husband having an interview before March are slim to none but I just want to cover my bases.

Thanks in advance! :star:

You technically qualify but CO's can be very subjective. I'd suggest you have your Mother co-sponsor with a non-binding I-134 for the visa and then if you have a full time job by the time AOS comes around, you'll be ok on your own.
