Not all Muslims are faithful to their religion. I know of several "practicing" Muslims as in pray 5 times a day, observe Ramadan and such but they play lottery, or drink alcohol and/or eat pork.

No group of religions can be perfect or do good enough to reach GOD. Alot of religions think they try, but they fail.

So lets not assume that one group is better than the other bcz none of us are.

I do know alot of good people from all religions, but religiousness to me is Empty.

No,

Jesus said He was the way, the truth and the life and no one comes to GOD but thru Him.

You dont have to be only titled Christian to believe that. There will be those that claimed to be Christian that will find themselves shocked in the end times.

Maybe I'm having a blonde moment but how does that equate to being non-Christian and still go to heaven/come to G-d? If Jesus said no one goes to G-d but through him, then wouldn't that mean you must be Christian?

Imagine if Jesus meant that metaphorically....that His teachings (the Golden Rule, loving your neighbor as yourself, etc.) are the way to Heaven, then that includes anyone who lives like that. Jesus' central message is that of love - that God loves us unconditionally, regardless of who we are or what we call ourselves. Heaven then isn't some exclusive club but the end result of loving as God has loved us. I think a lot of Christians are going to be shocked to see a lot of people from other faiths also up there on Cloud 9. :)

I don't think that's what Tamara's saying. She's saying not all who call themselves Christian will go to heaven, but all who do not most certainly won't.

It's an interpretation that I, as a non-Christian, am familiar with. I've heard it before.

Steven's "God is a free love hippie" meme is much more new to me. Frankly, VJ's the first time I've heard it.

Okay I get that not all people who call themselves Christians will go to heaven because they are not true followers of their religion. Definitely. But I guess as a non-Christian myself, I just don't grasp the concept of only Christians can go to heaven. I too have only heard Christians believe only Christians will go to heaven. The only exception I can think of is LDS (who believe, I was taught, that after death non LDS members are given a chance to change their mind, then they can still go if they do it after death) ....

You don't need to grasp the concept. It's their made-up concept from their made-up religion. Who gives a ####### how they came up with it or which bodily orifice the idea emanated from? It's a load of BS anyway.

Christian Fundamentalists have dominated the airwaves and the media with their interpretations and beliefs for the last couple of decades, but worldwide, they are a minority among Christians. For example, there are a lot of European Christians and I doubt you'd find but a small minority who don't believe in Evolution.

I did most of my schooling in a Christian-run school in India. The POV I said sounds familiar is the one I heard there as well. That's as far removed from american fundamentalists as it gets.

Well I grew up a Catholic...attended parochial school and my father is an ordained deacon who has continuously studied theology. I'm not saying that makes me a theologian, but I did pick up a lot from him. There is the concept of 'anonymous Christians' - people who live their lives that example what Jesus had taught. Does a thinking Christian believe that person is condemned to hell? I don't see how any rationally thinking Christian would believe that...it would require a suspension of reason. And for those Christian Fundamentalists who turn to literal interpretations of what Jesus said, there are numerous passages in the Gospel alone that demonstrate that they pick and choose their own interpretation while pretending that they are merely following what was said. For example, Jesus was pretty clear about rich people having a tough time getting into heaven as well as saying that divorce is not right, yet you won't hear too many Fundamentalists decry rich people or those who divorce.
