Oh my.

I'm really shocked and saddened to see that the majority of Christians here who believe in the apocalypse think that the best statement to describe it would be that all Muslims go to hell.

(of course, I realize there weren't many answering the poll, but still...)

What a vicious circle!

I wasnt one of the ones that stated that, I voted for Its Coming Soon first choice. I was shocked to see the above statement as well

Like Helter Skelter, it's coming down fast.

Don't just open your mouth and prove yourself a fool....put it in writing.

It gets harder the more you know. Because the more you find out, the uglier everything seems.

I wouldn't be surprised if it's just people messing with the poll who picked the Muslim thing. Second Q is confusing as it implies multiple choice but then you can only pick one.

I do believe in an apocalypse type scenario. I don't think Revelation was just referring to the end of the Roman empire.

Steve, did you make a mistake on the second poll (the question seems to imply "allow multichoice", which the poll actually doesn't)?

Oh shoot...yes, that was my mistake. Sorry.

What makes you believe that? Because your preacher says so? Have you read any different theologies? I'm not attacking anyone's belief here, but I think a lot of Christian Fundamentalists are unaware that not every Christian interprets the Book of Revelation the way they do.

You are right, not every Christian interprets it the way othersdo. So I don't interpret a lot of the bible the way you do. I have read the bible, and studied it myself. I find you have your own ideas about it, and I disagree with a lot of them. If something is said clearly in the bible, then I don't think it takes a lot to understand what it's saying. It's not just this hard to understand book that God wanted us to be all confused about. Sure, not everything is crystal clear, but certain things are.

I don't see how Revelation could only be referring to the Roman Empire after reading it myself a couple times. I am proudly a Christian fundamentalist if it means I actually believe Jesus is the only way to salvation, since He said it Himself--unless we aren't supposed to believe His words were what He really said either. In that case why should I care about the bible at all? It'd be a total fraud, which is what some people think. But I don't. But if we go around making up what we want the bible to say to us, then it's just another story book with good morals and a good guy to imitate in Jesus, and it down plays the whole Jesus is God and the only way to God thing-- which the bible emphasizes SO much that if I didn't believe that, I'd be done with the bible. And if I don't think Revelation was only talking about the Roman Empire, that makes me a fundamentalist, that's fine with me. There is a section of scripture where Jesus is talking about certain days, and I believe that could be referring to the hardship and persecution under the roman empire, but I won't say absolutely. I don't feel the same about the book of Revelation. Sorry to rant here but if Christian fundamentalist is going to be thrown around then I will say my 2 cents.

Stina, it's not me individually that differs on the interpretation of the Book of Revelation but actual Christian churches like the Catholic Church which do not regard the Book of Revelations as confirmation of world ending Apocalypse. I grew up with friends who were Baptists and I remember their church got swept up in this movement about the Rapture. They even had a sticker in their car that warned passengers that the driver may vanish at any moment - the belief was that when the Rapture takes place, all Christians would instantly go to heaven.

The Book of Revelations is about a cryptic as it can be and any interpretation requires a lot of leaps and bounds of equating one thing for another....which means even Christian Fundamentalists have to stop interpreting the Bible literally. How do you choose what passages in the Bible are literal and which ones are symbolic, allegorical or metaphorical? Why did Jesus speak in parables instead of literal stories could be more easily understood? :) I'm not really asking you to post your answers - just posing those questions for those who do take such a literal approach to the Bible to really think about it. Not taking the Book of Revelations as literal doesn't make it any less truthful than the rest of the Bible. If you seek out liberal Christian theology - it is out there and you might find it interesting to learn about, even if you don't agree with it. :)

Steven, I have learned about a lot of beliefs and ideologies and other religions, and my conclusions are still the same about my view of the bible. I have a deep down conviction, not just a "go along with other people" mentality. You probably already know that. I am a researcher at heart. :P

Revelations does state that lukewarm christians will go to hell. Why wasn't that on the list? Muslims are the ONLY people on earth who pray regularly, fast regularly, dress and act modestly, refrain from drinking/drugs/harmful substances, you know, all the stuff that the Bible instructs people to do but somehow that hard stuff falls through the cracks? Why pick Muslims out as being hell-bound? Could that be a sign of the hardship and persecution of the last true followers of the true God in the last days as stated in the book? Just throwing some thoughts out here.

i don't get it.
