You have to be elected to the presidency of the United States of America before you can get your kids a puppy?

A real act of mercy would be to get a rescue dog, otherwise that dog is in for a death sentence. I did look into it, but easier to adopt a kid. Maybe as president, Obama can pull some strings.

The resemblance is striking.

Don't just open your mouth and prove yourself a fool....put it in writing.

It gets harder the more you know. Because the more you find out, the uglier everything seems.

PBS radio in WI is talking about this, Obama really created an international crisis with that statement of getting his girls a puppy, not only in the USA, but world wide as to what kind of puppy to get. Only one will be happy, millions will be teed off. Dogs are a very emotional subject. Two biggest here according to the guest speaker is the AKC already with a written statement against them taking any dog that is not AKC registered, such an action would be against their organization. Another is the rescue organization, if he doesn't take a dog from them will set their organization back for finding homes for their dogs.

Then WW III can be started if Obama accepts a dog from one nation and disregards the others, he was also contacted by thousands of US breeders all offering a dog for free. Strange how one statement can lead into so much problems.

Also have a ton of dog experts coming out with advice how to deal with allergy issues with dogs. Does Michell have to clean the White House? If she does, will have her hands full, plus the dog would have to be constantly brushed and cleaned.

The only way I can see how Obama is going to get out of this is to accept thousands if not hundreds of thousands of dogs. Was really a stupid statement on his part to make, dogs are a very emotional subject.

In many cities around here, can run into a gas station to use the can with my kids in the car, won't dare do that with a dog, can't leave the dog in the car, not even for a minute, and can't bring the dog in with me, had to learn how to hold it.

Like German Shepherds myself, had a first cousin to Jerry Lee in that movie K-9, paused the VCR to learn the name of the breeder. What a great dog that was, if bored, would put on K-9, his favorite movie and he would bark like crazy rooting for Jerry Lee, was non aggressive, but would block any stranger from coming in the house, just stare them in the eye, and would talk to me just like Jerry Lee did in the movie, that was not added.

I did get Dok for a replacement, wife to be liked dogs, so took him along to pick her up at the airport, at first he wouldn't let her in the car, but just told me, she is okay, he fell in love with her, and she was his, not mine. Ha, would knock me over if I tried to hug her, but to compromise, all three of us had to hug together, with him on his hind legs. He was way oversized for a shepherd, and unfortunately got torsion, as the nearest vet to us that does that surgery is 3 1/2 hours away, it was way too late by the time we got him there. Our vets around here are worthless, maybe just good for clipping nails.

To ease the pain, we started looking for a puppy, wife likes labs, and while I let her have her way 99% of the time, a lab to me is like a #######, will go to anyone with a dog biscuit. No offense to lab owners, dogs are an emotional issue. So we got a German Shepherd puppy, this time from Germany to the strict standards, he is 25 3/8" at the shoulder, Dok was 30", that extra height increases the risk of torsion. Well, this dog is also madly in love with her and far to protective, wife can't walk him, so that's not working out very well. I can handle him, even around strange kids, but he is way too protective with her holding the leash. Ah, dogs, never know how they are going to turn out until they are about two years old, can be worse than kids.

Maybe Obama should get a cat.

Awww, they are sweet dogs. We saw them when we were in Peru and they were not overly friendly but kind of shyly guarded. But I think they require a lot of care to make sure they don't get sunburn, OR too cold.
