Is America in decline?

Is America in decline or are her best days ahead.

This was a topic of conversation I had not long ago w/ a friend.

Thy to put recent politics aside... and think 25 or 50 years out, would you say

The USA will be an ever greater country or are our best days behind us?

When I think of markers to measure greatness I consider education, Economy, military power

morality of it's people, leader in world politics, leader in technology Etc. (add your own)

- if our best days are behind up, when did we turn the corner?

I wouldn't consider it necessarily something in the neighborhood of for better or worse in most categories. Just different. Of course, if we discuss our perspectives as to specific areas then yeah, some are going to be better and some not so hot. In the end it will depend on how we agree to face those issues and more importantly, whether we decide as a nation to think things through instead of letting others do the thinking for us.

I say our nation is so powerful, that if we go down, we bring everyone else with us, take the global financial crisis, for example, that we triggered...

I recommend you his book, which comes out January 27th, 2009, entitled "The Next 100 Years: A Forecast for the 21st Century". Starting with a quote from the YouTube video, followed by some of his next predictions:

dont know, wasnt alive 50 yrs ago. however, how can the world be in decline, we all are mixing up and not stuck in our own county.we have internet, bigger houses airconditioners and soo many things ....and now a shiny new president elect who has stirred up the youth..something that has longg been overdue!! Peace to my good brother Dean and Pbuh good brother Garry keeping faith in the new generations

The 1800's were the years fo Great Britian to be the world power, the 1900's it was the United States time, Next ? Probably India or China. There is a youtube video titled Shift Happens that is a pretty good explaination of where things are headed

America is slipping in educational standards. And by shear numbers highly populated countries have a higher numbers of high IQ residents. Poverty and misery are great motivators for creativity
