Heard that the Mormons spent 22 million bucks against gay marriages, the gay movement didn't spend a dime. If you want your way in this country, have to buy it, doesn't come for free. WI also voted against gay marriages in 2006, now they are battling it out in the supreme court, suppose California will do the same. But this way, the attorneys get the cash, not the media.

And the innocent bystanders always get hurt, not new news, same old #######.

The gays didn't spend a dime?

Not that I followed it closely but I did read "Ellen" donated like a hundred grand, was she the only one and where did her money go if not on the commercials?

But that aside.. MONEY is the mothers milk of change (in other countries, blood) ask Obama he spent nearly a Billion to secure the White House, McCain tried to do it on a fraction of that.

We saw the results.

I suspect if the Right-wing had a candidate they really believed in, running.

More folks (like me) would have voted and that 53% against prop 8 would have been even higher.

Yes. Good one. I just saw the A-shirt for that one.

We can add it to the "STFU and Make Me a Sammy" collection...

(Goes along with the "Get me a Beer" shirts too)

HAL 9000 runs along now before getting disconnected.

Wishing you ten-fold that which you wish upon all others.

I just wanna know what all you commie conspiracy freaks were doing when I was posting vids of angry nutjobs at McCain rallies. I don't recall reading anything like this then.

Remember the "Iron My Shirt, Woman!" picketers at one of Hillary Clinton's rallies? It turns out they were plants from her campaign.

I'm still suspicious about those in the video - how they were acting so aggressive towards the woman and why would they smash the cross? There are many many gays who are religious, in spite of what the the Christian Right try to paint them as. In fact, one of the protesters over here in Lake Forest, who were protesting Saddleback Church, where pastor Rick Warren interviewed Obama and McCain. She and her lesbian partner are members of his church.

Because people do things in anger they wouldn't otherwise do?

The same reason those nutjobs at McCain-Palin rallies acted the way they did. They sensed they were going to lose and it was driving them nuts.

But really, Steven, I don't recall one peep along these lines out of you when I was posting McCain vids. How come?

I'm not suggesting it couldn't happen at those McCain rallies, all I'm commenting on is the oddities of this video. For one, as I view it again, where is the channel logo on the screen? The more I look at the more I'm convinced it's a fake.

do a search for "Prop 8 protesters attack elderly woman" and it is the middle video on the top...

Ok. It wasn't fake, but again, it doesn't make any logical sense why these protestors who are trying to win support to attack this woman's cross. BTW, it looks like the guy yelling at her off to the right is a military veteran. Regardless though, what they did was about the dumbest thing they could do for their cause.

It IS a very emotional time. And perhaps I am generalizing gays too much with one brush, but they tend to be a little more emotional than other segments of the population. In a way I am sure they must feel very frustrated, having a liberal elected to the White House and having tolerance thrown under the bus once again- although in lesser numbers than previously. I predict a similar measure will be subject to public referendum in the future and gays will win the rights that are denied to them this time around.

Wishing you ten-fold that which you wish upon all others.

The gays spent a lot of money on airtime but their ads were for the most part, terrible and lame.

They need some straight PR people to help them....call it "Straight Eye for the ####### Guy."

Here is a brief summary of marriage laws in the State of Wisconsin, other states can be found at: http://www.usmarriagelaws.com/

Proxy Marriages: No.

Cousin Marriages: No.

Common Law Marriages: No.

Same Sex Marriages: No.

Could have copied and pasted the entire page, would only be a fraction of what AK posts, but just trying to stay on off topic. Had this site in an old bookmark when I asked my wife to get married, or did she ask me? LOL. It's not that I get married everyday, but can say the marriage laws are a hell of a lot shorter than the divorce laws in my state.

That was over five years ago, a proxy marriage is out, states elsewhere we both have to be there, common law is not accurate as the divorce laws consider a marriage to be valid if a couple lives together for a predetermined length of time, and definitely married if they have kids. But did ask my wife if she was my cousin, but do not recall asking her if she was the same sex as me, I think they added that a couple of years ago after the referendum. So was sex even an issue back then? I do not believe so, Bush came up with this as a distraction to Iraq, now it's an issue, but so is global warming with Gore.

I have no objection to same sex marriage, but if people are concerned about the children, should permit gay marriages but should pass a law they are not allowed to have natural born kids. Maybe that will keep the churches happy.

One law I would like to see passed is that all churches pay property taxes, we have some very weird churches in town that are getting a free ride from my tax dollars, so in effect, I am, against my will, partially supporting those churches. Actually feel that all the churches in town are weird that would raise the assessed value by at least a half a billion bucks. Or maybe I should start my own weird religion and become tax exempt as well.

Are the republicans really going to get rid of God? Jews in the old testament tried using God as their leader, but it didn't work for them, fired God and put in a guy instead.
