I'm going on a limb here and say that was all staged. Palm Springs is one of 'Reddest' parts of California.

Don't look now, but you sound like one of our conservative posters who insisted any footage showing Republicans in a bad light was also "staged".

It just seemed like the stupidest and worst thing they could do to their own cause, by trampling on that woman's cross. Now they've made it a battle between religion and themselves and have drawn a line in the sand for many Christians.

They're the kind of people who show up at protests. We're not talking strategic thinkers here.

And that's what troubles me because there's no telling whether those protesting are really behind the movement or just there to cause trouble. Look up the tactics of Protest Warriors and you'll see what kind of subversive and very effective tactics are used against otherwise peaceful protests.

That's comparing apples to oranges, IMO. Sarah Palin invoked a lot hatred at the rallies by the deplorable things she said about Obama, but that's another topic.

Secondly, Protest Warrior is Right Wing operation. Although I'm sure some Left Wing Nuts could possibly resort to the same sort of subversive tactics, I haven't heard or read of any that exist.

Anyone who really wants progress on gay marriage in CA should resist the temptation to involve themselves in demonstrations. It's totally the wrong tactic in my opinion.

stupidity on both sides was seen there in my opinion. and i think by shoving a cross up against their protesting agaist prop 8 she made it religion against gay marrage.

they shouldn't have smooshed her cross, but it could also be said her actions were baiting, so if i was her i wouldn't have been shocked or suprised at the outcome. you can't condone either sides actions in that clip.

I agree. They aren't winning anyone over to their cause by acting like uncontrolled, angry mob. Our democracy isn't by mob rule. They are really shooting themselves in the foot....which is why I'm a little suspicious about anyone who acts the way they did in that video. It's like - think of the worst thing that you could do to hurt your cause and then do it. Just doesn't make sense.

I am not really that familiar with organizations that support gay marriage in the US, but presumably there is one, and it would probably be a good idea for that organization to denounce such actions - if indeed they are fringe or plant agitators. I know there is protesting going on though, in LA because it was on the news. I understand the frustration - and there has to be some outlet for it - but I really don't think that protesting is the right tactic as a force for a reversal. The only course of action is the law suits to test whether even voting on the proposition was constitutional. That is a good question, and one that I think demands an answer.

Why would you doubt that anyone who has enough interest to show up

at a demonstration of (any type)... could not get caught up in the emotion of the moment?

What they say about "stupid people in large groups" is true, often times people feed off of group energy and do things they never would otherwise do.

IF you know of cases where Right-wingers are "planting" people in demonstrations to portray themselves as Left-wingers, share it... it would be heart warming to find some one on the right that actually got off their couch.
