My husband and I are moving into a new apt. on 11/28 (the lease begins 12/1, but the landlord is going to hand over the keys on Black Friday and said we could start moving furniture, etc. then). His GC expires January 29, 2009.

I've heard some horror stories about mail going to the old address after filing out the CoA forms, which in some cases has lead to missed interviews, denials, etc. So, my (I guess kinda dumb) question is, should we send out the packet ASAP or should fill out and send in the CoA forms now and then wait until a few days before we move to send out the petition to remove conditions? OR should we send the petition now and do a CoA in 2 & 1/2 weeks when we've moved in.

It's clearly not like we're going to be out of time if we wait, but I know the guides recommend doing it as soon as possible within the 90 day window.

Thanks!

I was one of the unlucky ones that had to change my address after I had submitted the application. I submitted in October 2007 and changed my address on February 2008. I changed in both my pending application and changed as a general requirement for US residents.

I have confirmation numbers for both change of address applications. Well after a year, when I saw that the USCIS processing times was out of my timeframe, I called USCIS and told them that. The person took my info, including my address. What do you think happened? that same day I was sent, actually remailed an RFE, that when I received it I noticed that they had sent it a month before to my previous address (on the letter it had a previous date of September and a remailed date of October the same day that I called). I'm guessing that the first time they sent it it was returned to them.

In other words, eventhough I had changed my address and have the confirmation that I did, they still sent my RFE to the old addres, and if I had not called to find out if there was anything wrong, I would have never received anything and in the long run my case would have been denied.

So I already sent my RFE package and I included a copy of my change of address with the confirmation numbers from their website. Sorry if I bored you with my story, but I just wanted you to see that it's not a good thing to change your address while you have a pending application. At least it wasn't in my case. I guess they're terrible with updating info.

You still have time after you move to submit your application, this way you don't have to change your address after you submit. But it's your choice. If you decide to wait until you move, just sent the package priority so it'll get there faster. Good luck
