My wife and I sent in our I-751 paperwork on 11/6, confirmed and signed for by USCIS at VSC on 11/7. My permanent residency card expires on 11/29 and given the lengthy processing times I have read about I am not sure if there is anything I can do to ensure that the file is being processed (check has not yet been deposited by USCIS) given the short amount of time left before my card expires as I want to make sure I can still work, but can't set up an infopass appointmet without case number right? If anyone has any insight on what to do please share - thanks so much. What does happen in the case that you have sent paperwork within the 90 days allowed prior to the expiration date of your card and still do not receive any form of NOA...etc? This board has been very helpful!

It will NOT be processed before your expiration.. Your NOA will act as a one year extention of the card... While not guaranteed, you should get your NOA before the EOM

YMMV

You will get the NOA probably next week. Ours took about 2 weeks. That's all you need for the next year and hopefully you will have the 10 year GC by the end of that year.

Life's just a crazy ride on a run away train

You can't go back for what you've missed

So make it count, hold on tight find a way to make it right

You only get one trip

So make it good, make it last 'cause it all flies by so fast

You only get one trip

Thanks - Now for some reason if they still require more info (RFE?) would I still get the NOA that is good for a year while we gather additional paperwork if needed? And if I don ot get an NOA prior to the expiration date or I still haven't received anything 2-3 days prior to it expiring is there anything I can do?

An RFE does not invalidate the time extention granted by the NOA... only outright denial of the application will have that effect

YMMV

The RFE are sent when they actually start working on your case, not when they receive it. So don't worry about a RFE prior of them sending you the NOA.

There's still time for you to receive the NOA before the GC expires, but in case you don't receive it (like it has happened to a few people), just make an infopass to request a stamp on your passport, this is what many have done when they don't receive their NOA (usually it's been the texas tranfers). I believe you can make the infopass using your alien number (GC), just explain to them tha you have not receive the NOA. Good luck
