OK, I have a quick question about IMBRA if I petition for a K1 Visa for someone overseas (yes I am a US citizen with a criminal record: Felony and Misdemeanor - 10 years ago) will it be required by IMBRA to officially (officially meaning - not by me but by the NCIS/DHS) notify my potential fiancee about my criminal record, EVEN THOUGH A 'MARRIAGE BROKER' WASN'T USED TO MEET?

You see what I originally heard was that IMBRA only applied to people using 'Marriage Brokers' then and only then did the government actually inform the fiancee of the criminal record. HOWEVER, after doing some substantial reading in these forums it appears that whether a 'Marriage Broker' is used or not is irrelevant...

Is that correct?

(no worries people, no deception on my part is intended, I just want to know what I will be facing / and what kind of timing should be used on my part when I go to say 'there's something in my past you must know about'-----in a nutshell, I am thinking WAY-AHEAD into the future)

Thanks

Not the NCIS (not sure how the Naval Criminal Investigative Service would be involved here) nor will it be the DHS, nor will it be the USCIS... Notification may occur at the time of interview by the DOS via the consular officer

Yes, that's what's supposed to happen but it probably won't. I'd just make sure the fiancee knows the whole story.

Facts are cheap...knowing how to use them is precious...
