The police report has to be obtained in Bangkok. From the US embassy website in Bangkok:

Q: Where can I get the required Thai Police Certificate?Thai Police Certificates are required for all applicants age 16 or older. These certificates are available only from the following office:

Section 3, Sub-Division 2, General Staff Division

Special Branch, Royal Thai Police Department

Rama I Road

Pathumwan, Bangkok 10330

Telephone: 66-2-205-2605

http://bangkok.usembassy.gov/immigrant_vis...ncee-visas.html

Rin lived in Bangkok and applied for her PC and returned a week later to pick it up. Others have had them mailed, although with varying levels of success given the inefficiency of the Thai Post.

The medical exam will be valid for a year. So since you are going the CR-1 route, doing it now shouldn't be a problem as there will be no AOS after arriving in the USA. The only hospitals in Thailand authorized to conduct the exams are in Bangkok and Chang Mai.

You will need your divorce decree, too.

I believe the DS-156 is the one you need.

Best of luck, John

I'm sure someone already answered your question for the most, I had my wife go ahead and get her police certificate, she had to drive from Kantharalak to Bangkok, it took close to a month.

My wife went there, filled out the papers. For some reason they asked her bunch of questions and gave her a hard time, but told her to come back 3 weeks or 1 month later on a specific date, to pick it up. She went on the date and everything was fine. This was mid July-to-mid August 2008.

Oh, and 1 more thing. It's best to wait on the medical. Normally right after the NVC notice for an interview, people are going for their medical exam. My wife went for hers before that time but you need to be careful or she may need to go twice because I think it's only good for 6 months. They sealed the medical envelope and she is suppose to take it to the interview. The police report is 1 year.

Nothing is stranger than trying to make sense of all of this. I know people are answering in good faith but thier facts are not correct. Or they had a very different experiance than we did.

The medical is done on forms given by the Embassy & taken to one of two places they have contracts with in BKK. We did ours the day before the interview.

The police report is NOT good for a year. It is good for about 60 days. Ours was requested from BKK police & sent to our home town. It was good for 60 days.

NVC does NOT schedual the interview. The Embassy does that after recieving the packet 3.

well, i wouldnt be making such blanket statements like that.. because just maybe you might be the one wrong.

This can be done before the interview, just not a good idea to be too early.

My wife and stepdaughter are doing theirs when we send the p-3 packet in....

for about 60 days? ok, then you dont know for sure..

I went to the embassy, went to the window, spoke to an interviewer who went and checked with her supervisor to be sure, gave me a document from the Embassy stating, it IS good for 1 year.

agreed, you can log on to the embassy's site with your BNK number and find the scheduled interview.

You arent making the statement, I am. And it isnt a blanket statement. I SAID they must have had a different experiance than I did. I wasnt talking about YOU or what YOU think.

So you write your own opinion & I will write mine which I think is the idea of this forum anyway.

The 60 days came from the officer at the Embassy in BKK. If you got a different responce then you can see why I said making sense of this is tough.

I think your problem is comprehension of English. Re= read the good faith comment & see if you can actually understand it.

Regarding the medical, it can be done in Bangkok or Chang Mai (two hospitals in each city are authorized; 8 doctors in Bangkok, 3 doctors in Chang Mai).

http://bangkok.usembassy.gov/root/pdfs/med...instruction.pdf

With regards to the forms, Rin had her medical in April 2007 before receiving her packet 3 (and about one month before the interview). BNH had the forms. When we took her children for their medical (September 2007) BNH did not have the forms. I went to a nearby internet shop, downloaded them, and printed them. One had expired, the doctor pointed it out and filled it in anyway. No problems at the embassy with the form when they had their interview.

Saw a post earlier today on VJ that the BKK embassy is requiring the actual packet 3 forms, so the process may have changed since last year.
