 10 year. we're on year 5 of it, it will go up for rebid after obama is out of office.

and while the company name may change, the faces all stay the same with contracting

I hear ya, but I've been on both sides of the fence, and I'm much happier being on the government side.

As you know, there is a hierarchy, and contractors are on the bottom of the pile!

It goes Military, Civilian, then Contractor.

There are 4000 workers here at PAFB and CCAFS. 2000 of which are contractors. With each contract change over, more and more cuts are being made, with more and more people losing their jobs. I've been through two contract changeovers, and let me tell you… they ain't pretty!

which is why it's good to be in the top 1/3 with seniority and in the top 20% of knowledge with this new computer system.

along with being one of the two comms people, which is my primary job :D

So when do you find time for work?!!

I know and you've said that's what you are but what does a communications person do?

Man is made by his belief. As he believes, so he is.

You can talk bad about Comm, but you can't talk without them!!!

Comm is a very broad area, which includes digital voice, analog voice, DISA circuits, commercial circuits, wide band video, T1/3 networks, VOIP, Radio (HF, VHF, UHF), Intel Satcom, Data Transmision, Crypto, etc.

At least that's what our Comm guys do here. Without Comm... this place would shut down!

Communication Theory in college was one of the difficult classes. Maybe that's why it's a senior level class. We studied different signals, and learned how to manipulate those signals using RLC circuits with MOSFETS, BJT, J-FETS. That was the worse.

Well, the worse part was getting rid of the noise so we can get a clean mathematical interpretation of the signal.
