Remember, a science technician is not the same as a research scientist. Same thing with Engineers. A tmechanic, electronic, and computer technician are not the same as Engineers.

I am surprise as to the amount of people not aware of the difference. An Engineer solves physical problems that requires sophisticated science, and math skills and implement them in the form of tools.

A technician on the other hand is almost like an assistant to an Engineer or Scientist. They diagnose and troubleshoot systems under the Engineer's specifications on tools (electronics, cars, etc...).

Yep. A research scientist requires a PhD. Give HAL 9000 a couple of more years OK?

Wishing you ten-fold that which you wish upon all others.

I hear ya, but I've been on both sides of the fence, and I'm much happier being on the government side.

As you know, there is a hierarchy, and contractors are on the bottom of the pile!

It goes Military, Civilian, then Contractor.

There are 4000 workers here at PAFB and CCAFS. 2000 of which are contractors. With each contract change over, more and more cuts are being made, with more and more people losing their jobs. I’ve been through two contract changeovers, and let me tell you… they ain’t pretty!

which is why it's good to be in the top 1/3 with seniority and in the top 20% of knowledge with this new computer system.

along with being one of the two comms people, which is my primary job :D
