You brought the traitor charge so you back it up. Affter 8 years, surely you could find a dozen or so examples if it was bandied about so commonly you claim.

Well I could - but this assumes I have the time to spend hunting through news archives and post histories. Unfortunately until I get the internet back up and running at home you'll have to settle for what you get.

If you haven't experienced living in Nazi Germany you aren't qualified to knock it, eh?

Reminds me of a joke. A man was repeatedly striking himself in the skull with hammer. Another approached him and asked him why he was hitting himself. The man hoarsely replied, "Because it feels so good when I stop." I passed on the hammer experiment and state socialism given that neither is a pleasant experience.

What was that you were saying earlier about exaggeration?

Wow, Alien is one angry mother...

Wow? You should try out "gee whiz" or maybe "zounds" if you had an inkling of imagination. Where's the angry mother part? I need to save it for the personal archives.

She's right - you do seem a bit on the angry and combative side today.

Oookay...

Really... perhaps someone needs to move all the sharp objects out of harms reach...

A recent poll says 64 percent of Republicans want Sarah Palin to run in 2012.

She's a pariah for the GOP...

The 2 statements above are at odds with each other.

Not really. A lot of Republicans are angry with the current Party's leadership and there aren't any real personalities who can fill that void. If they continue to think she's the future of the Party, they're in for a rude awakening, IMO.

So you're saying she'll become a pariah but isn't right now.

Yes...I think a large number of Republicans already know it now, but give her more time in the limelight, put a microphone in front of her, and she'll be another Pat Buchanan.

Well given that they're trying to blame her for losing the election - I think its doubtful that she'll be able to come back from that.

While she tried to paint herself a maverick like McCain, she hasn't built the camaraderie that McCain has

On the left?

She doesn't want to go there... we all saw where that gets you......the opportunity to make a great concession speech.

Danno, I'm not if you were into politics back when Pat Buchanan was making a formidable run, but if you weren't, you should look into his rise within the GOP and why he fizzled.

Not sure if your memory is fair or correct in this case.

1. Buchanan was running against a sitting President, not an easy nut to crack.

2. The Party loved him, watch the clip yourself.

3. By the time Clinton got out of Office, Pat's time had been long over.

If you want another Buchanan, then Palin could be the heir to that, but again....Buchanan's failure was his divisiveness towards much of the GOP establishment (like Palin), whereas GW Bush's success was bringing many factions within the Party together under one roof...thanks in part to Rove.

And being the strategic genius that he is, Rove is doubtful to help out the sister.

Wishing you ten-fold that which you wish upon all others.

I really don't see the Palin - Buchanan equivalence.

Me neither. You have to compare idiots to idiots and Buchanan is not a complete idiot.

Well, no comparison is full proof, but they certainly share a lot of similarities in terms of how they both ignited a certain part of the GOP while alienating others.

... they both ignited a certain part of the GOP while alienating others.

Not according to the CNN National Exit Poll.

The McCain-Palin ticket won 90% of the self-identified Republican vote.

The Obama-Biden ticket won 89% of the self-identified Democratic vote.

Man is made by his belief. As he believes, so he is.
