We met here in philly when she was a au pair. we have been together since march 20th of 07 and she went back to brazil on october 3rd. Times have been tough. I am mr positive  , she is really really depressed :crying: . We have our home here and she just cant wait to come back. I do have a question??? What is the average time for this process? i am reading so many different things from orkut and this site. Anything would be great... Thanks again.......

Hi Tom!

Good luck and maybe it will be a swift journey for us all! I sent my fiance visa in date September and am waiting on my noa 2. Estimated time is around 6 months I think. Maybe someone out there has a good time frame? I thinks some of it depends on how long it takes to get the interview ? It can't happen soon enough! Tell your fiance to hang in there

Welcome to VJ Carol and Tom !

If you look under immigration timelines and do a search of K-1 visa, you can filter it to Brazil and it might give you a better idea how long it takes for K-1 to be processed for Brazilians.

Good luck on your onwards journey.

Welcome welcome! The whole process (petition and visa) usually takes 6-8 months. Thing is, the moment you get started every day just seems to drag on like forever. That's how I felt. But so far, I am already on my 3rd month of waiting and still, the wait continues.

I say good luck to you and your fiancee. Take care and God bless.

Welcome Tom!

Just to give you some info on the Brazilian side. Our I-129F process was filed on Sept. 07. I received my K-1 visa on May 16th, 07. It took 9 months for the whole process to complete. We did not get the dreaded RFE (Request for Additional Information) which is something that can delay the process a bit. I had my interview for the K-1 at the Rio de Janeiro Consulate.

I wish you and Carol a good journey and lots of patience. It can be hard sometimes, but here you can find support and helpful information to go through this.

God bless! :energy:

Hi there, and welcome! Wow, I remember mailing off our I-129...seems like ages ago, even though it really wasn't. I know how tough it is being away from each other...hang in there! Nothing in life worth having ever comes easy. We sent ours off January of this year, he got his interview July 1st, which he was approved that day, and arrived here in the US July 31st. So, all in all, from the filing time, until he actually arrived was about 6 months. You may run into a couple of delays with the holidays and all, so, I would plan on 6-8 months. It seems like an eternity, but it's definitely worth the wait.

Take care and Best Wishes to the both of you! :star:

Hey sara,

I see by your timeline it has taken some time. I sent my I-129f on oct 28th on next day mail and i got a conformation from usps that a M. hazuda signed for it. I have not got my noa1 and its almost a month. I look at everyone elses timeline and it seems like they got it so fast. I used a money order i was wondering if you had any insight as to why it would take so long??? i am asking you cause you seem to have called in and talked to them. I called and they told me that until it is 30 to 45 days they cant do anything. Thanks for any help....
