i regard the jury as still out on that about the environment as we (the usa) can do whatever we want to make things better, but the air you breath right now may have been over china a week ago. china does not have a stellar track record (nor did the ussr) in environmental concerns.

healthcare and education - probably needs a mailing address. and they don't have one.

lol, you're funny. :P

so because china, a way less developed country than the usa, produces pollution it isn't important to invest in renewable energy sources in the usa? nice logic. luckily for everyone you aren't running the country. ;)

The United States was, as of at least 2005, the largest per capita emitter of carbon dioxide from the burning of fossil fuels.

Oh please, you wish, fantasist. As I said, try following the trail of the ball bearing.

it's hilarious that you wish to "educate" me about china's environmental topics when i had to review and sign off on a briefing about yellow dust before i went to korea........

Refusing to use the spellchick!

didn't say we didn't emit carbon dioxide, did i? and i'm not terribly spun up about carbon dioxide as we're emitting it right now.

btw, keep reading the links i've put up - you might learn something. at least our neighboring countries don't have to worry about which way the wind blows.

eta: btw you missed this in your link:

In 2004 the total greenhouse gas emissions from the People's Republic of China were about 54% of the U.S. emissions.[44] However, China is now building on average one coal-fired power plant every week, and plans to continue doing so for years.[45] Various predictions see China overtaking the U.S. in total greenhouse emissions between late 2007 and 2010,[46][47][48] and according to many other estimates, this already occurred in 2006.[49][50][51]

so you can either spell out what you are carrying on about in regards to ball bearings or continue this tired old tactic of nya nya nya i know something you don't.

a change in environmental policy is important in the usa for the whole world. this is the same point i've made in post #2, 4, 6, 13, 16, 21, 33 and now this one. do i need to repeat myself again?

Now we're talking something irrelevent to the original post. Apparently, someone decides to twist the reasoning to incorporate global warming. If you are here, speak up. If not, then, I'll pretend I didn't hear ya for a bit.

It'll be worth it just to hear the conservatives squeal like a bunch of little piggies.

hehe. i don't see what they are concerned about. improving the country is bad?

There is nothing more threatening to the conservative ideology than a liberal President who actually enacts a liberal agenda.

I just hope that Obama thinks big. He's got a mandate and political capital. He needs to use the former and invest the latter.

Ditto!

Kick the conservatives to the curb. Show them no quarter.

was there some reason why you ignored that? leading by example isn't important? ignoring the kyoto protocol is fine? like i said, we are all lucky that you aren't running the country. ;)

indeed, it is a sad state of affairs. the problem is that unless there is an agreed standard between nations, like the kyoto protocol, that america adheres to how can anyone show them how to clean up their air? they're just going to turn around and say well, america is rich and doesn't bother, we aren't rich so why should we? the fact that obama is pushing for renewable energy is great in my opinion.
