POE Question - X-Ray needed?

Hello,

I'm a new member here at VJ although I've been reading this site for some time now and thanks to you guys, my IR1 visa just got approved a couple of days ago with no issue whatsoever.

Here in singapore, the process is quite different from other embassies, the medical exam result is brought directly by the clinic to the embassy. During my interview, they gave me back my X-Ray film. When I returned a few days earlier to get my passport with the IR1 visa, they also gave me a sealed brown envelope that they said I should give to the officer at my POE. They didn't say anything about the X-Ray film so I was wondering if I need to hand-carry it? It's quite big and I really would rather put it on my checked baggage.

I have a 14 hour stopover at Tokyo so I'm planning to go out to the city for a while that's why I'm really looking to keep my carry-on baggage to a minimum.

Hope you can advise me.

Thanks a lot

david

I'd roll it up and place it inside a mailing tube and pack it with your carry on. It's not really needed (my Consulate told me I could just place it in my checked luggage, and when I went through POE they didn't ask for my x-rays) but I've read on here about someone who ran into trouble when POE asked for their X-ray so I figured I'd pack it anyway

DON"T EVEN TRY TO ENTER THE US WITHOUT THE XRAY. I HAD READ ABOUT CARRYING IT ON ANOTHER WEBSITE (CANDLEFORLOVE) AND THANK GOD I CARRIED IT...AS THEY INSISTED THAT I TURN IT OVER AT POE - HONOLULU. IF THEY DON"T HAS IT"S NO BIG DEAL...BUT HAVE IT WITH YOU....

when I was @ my interview in Tokyo,

the staff received my medical doc in a huge sealed envelope.

she opened, took a look at them, returned me Xray in the

same envelope.

she said, you cleared w medical ck.

please take this Xray with you when you go to the States.

I got my passport with visa back in mail a few days later.

I got sealed envelope too.

So I will take the envelope and Xray with me in carry on

luggage. Passengers must clear Immigration before going

thru Luggage Turntable / Customs.

and I don't want to think about What If my checked in luggage

disappears by mistake... lost luggage? not @ my POE.

I actually brought my xray with me via handcarry... turned out that the officer didn't need it. But I wouldn't be too complacent though; I was warned by the officer in the Embassy in SG that I should carry it on my person.

Just roll it up in a mailing tube (Singapore Post sells them in various lengths, not too expensive either!) and let it stick out your backpack if too long :)
