We recieved our NOA1 dated October 31, 2008. When I tried to register today for updates and to check the case status online it says our receipt number doesn't exist! How long does it take them to get it into the computer? Or is there a problem I should be calling and talking to someone about? Thanks!

ETA: Also on the letter it shows my husband's name as the petitioner, with my name nowhere. Is that normal?? Isn't he the beneficiary and me the petitioner? I've been out of the loop with this for too long!!!

No biometrics letter yet -just the 1-797 Notice of Action (the one that says your gc is extended for a year) It does have an EAC number on it that is what I tried to enter unsuccessfully.

Your husband is the foreign spouse? His name is the one that will show up on the documentation even though you filed jointly. He is considered the petitioner since he is filing to remove the conditions on his green card, even though it is a joint petition.

The number on the NOA is only for internal USCIS use and won't get you access to your online account. When you receive your biometrics appointment letter -usually within the month - it will have a different case number on it and that one will allow you to check your case status on line. You will be able to set up an email notification account with that number as well.
